For those of you who don't know it, MTU was a long-running comic series from Marvel which featured Spider-Man and another superhero in a villain-of-the-week style matchup/pairing. At its best, we got to see the wall crawler team up with characters he'd usually never cross paths with and visit exotic locales beyond his traditional New York City turf. At its worst, the series was a formulaic vehicle used to leverage the lead's popularity to promote other more obscure characters. www.coverbrowser.com/covers/marvel-team-up/2The reason I bring it up is because Marvel and Sony have announced that new films in the Homecoming trilogy will feature a new Marvel/MCU guest star. I'm pretty stoked about the idea because it makes the movies feel more like classic comic books (so long as the guest star doesn't dominate the proceedings). I know there are many who will feel differently but, it's hard to deny the canonical precedence. Overall, this makes the MCU feel more expansive and interconnected. It also answers all of the detractors who constantly complained, "where was so and so when character x was in a jam in that movie?" I know we're trained to think in terms of solo adventures per outing but, this approach is rapidly growing on me. Oh, and here's a few salt tablets for the haters.

Loved these as a kid. I actually have the complete run of issues at home. Like the idea of these coming to the screen.
There was also Marvel Two-In-One where The Thing was the main character

Awesome, though I hope they put real effort into explaining why these heroes would be working together. In other words, let's try to keep things grounded at street level, I don't want Spidey continent hopping all the time or going to other dimensions/outer space. Way too many moving parts contractually speaking, but how great would it be to see the Netflix heroes in Spidey films?

I love the team up aspect of it, and I'm really glad you brought up the comic series of those.
I pay zero attention to haters, because they don't have any valid point to make.
But you did make me wonder,,,
HOW MANY PEOPLE ASSUME OTHER EVENTS TAKE PLACE THAT WE DON'T SEE?
I assume that Steve might have encounter crossbones before Civil War or Dr Faustus or Sin. I assume that Tony might have had to fight Crimson Dynamo in Russia over stolen tech before. I assume Thor has dealt with all sorts of things that we haven't seen in a film.
So I never understood the, "where are the other characters question." They're busy. Do they really have to explain where everybody else is, every film? Do you show up at your friends out and explain where all of your other friends are every time?

That's why I said in another thread that the comics should be showing the stories between the movies and the stories happening in other parts of the universe during the movies. IMO fire all those wanna be hipsters that are writing comics for shock value and "edginess" and make the comics part of the MCU. One giant movie, TV and comics universe!

No, they would never do that, (and rightly so) for the following reasons.
They don't want to use up material they might want to use later, or realize that they've done something in a comic story that suddenly hinders them in a plot point for a future movie.

I couldn't agree with you more. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who is against Iron-Man being featured in Homecoming doesn't understand how a shared universe works and they probably never read a comic book in their lives. And that's okay, they just can't pretend to be anything more than casual fans which in turn gives them no seat at the table for the debate. Case closed.

I dont get why everybody is so upset with Iron Man in this movie even before they saw it.
When in phase two the other Avengers didnt join the solo films people complained. Now they do and people will still complain. Its just stupid.

Now they do and people will still complain. Its just stupid. It's malicious, agenda-driven, anti-Marvel rhetoric. These are the same inbreds who were claiming the MCU wasn't shared or connected because every MCU character did not appear in every other MCU character's movie. Now it's happening and suddenly it's a problem.
