I still don't understand why so many people were unable to just not read the posts that hurt their fragile little feelings. You could use ignore on someone and wouldn't even have to endure the gargantuan chore of NOT reading what the meanies said. How do fragile creature manage to traverse this inconsiderate world of ours away from message boards where they are protected? Do they just stay at home always?
I picture them ending every day sobbing into their pillows in the fetal position because some guy stepped in front of them at the grocery store and didn't apologize profusely. Perhaps the all white gated communities the fragile folks live in are all sweetness and sharing flowers and hypocrisy of course.

The IMDb v1.o site is still handy dandy for looking things up and v2.0 is a vast improvement for messageboarding. Yes but we still need a site for boards for individual movies.

I actually prefer these boards now. Genuine discussion flows way better here.
IMDb is just annoying now. They're catering to the Twitter and Facebook crowd, not the movie crowd.

RobertoNo, it's not the same but, it's what we've got and it's basically our own fault that we lost the old place. This site has many fewer problem posters and there are work arounds for making the individual boards. I like it here MUCH better than the old boards. It was not fun having to watch over your shoulder for the troll creeping up wanting to pounce and admin allowing it.

I don't have twitter or facebook but I still do research over there. Would never have gone to the "chat" areas on the old boards other than to peek in and back out hoping not to have been noticed. They actually have some fun posters and conversations here. It's not perfect, but nothing in life is !

No, it's not the same but, it's what we've got and it's basically our own fault that we lost the old place. It's not our own fault. Follow the money and you'll see it's Amazon.com's fault. They own the IMDb, and weren't making any money off the boards, while at the same time devoting significant resources to keep them going. They could have instituted better technology, and with better moderation gotten rid of the bad apples. Instead they decided to throw the baby out with the bath water and get rid of the boards entirely. The boards were what made the IMDb unique. Now they're basically no different than Wikipedia, and according to Alexa, the IMDb's traffic is way down from their April peak. And now they're asking us for our help? Here's my response: FOAD!

alpha128Not getting into whose fault it was or wasn't other than to comment that moderators would not have been needed if people just behaved themselves like civilized people. A Golden opportunity was lost and Admin has done his darndest to give us another chance. Will also say that Wiki and IMDb are not at all the same. Some prefer the Wiki format and some the IMDb format.

Will also say that Wiki and IMDb are not at all the same. Some prefer the Wiki format and some the IMDb format. Maybe not in terms of format, but in terms of content they are now largely the same. As I wrote earlier, user generated content like the boards made the IMDb unique. The IMDb is now just another on-line encyclopedia.

alpha128The IMDb is now just another on-line encyclopedia.
Will grant you that with the addition that is an ILLUSTRATED encyclopedia which we can do the decorating of to our hearts content. We can also still write and read user reviews and add trivia, goofs, cast and crew info information if we want to.

Ok So, say that IMDb did bring the message boards back, including the abysmal lack of moderation, would y'all just abandon V-02 and go there again ? If so, why ? In a heartbeat. larger user input.
