Molly C. Quinn Jane Levy Holland Roden Karen Gillan Elena Satine Alexandra Breckenridge So we're mostly in agreement. Jane Levy it is then. Jane Levy is the clear and obvious favorite. I would be ecstatic to hear she is cast in the role.

Gordon has got to be in his 60s by this point, so Barbara should be at least pushing 30 or so. So that's a no to the younger actresses barely around 20. I don't know about that, I mean why can't Gordon have married and had a child with a younger wife? Maybe he was 45 she was 35, it happens.

While I will admit some of the better choices are late 20s i don't think its problematic to cast a 20 year old as Babs. Simmons was born in 55 and the youngest is Fanning born in 98. It would not impossible for a man in his 60s to have a 20 year old daughter It is problematic 'cause it is being based on the Post Oracle Batgirl New 52 series by Gail Simone which has Barbara in her late 20s taking on the role of Batgirl after spending YEARS in a wheelchair as Oracle and is going to feature flashbacks of her becoming Batgirl, being paralysed by the Joker in the events of 'The Killing Joke' (which she is haunted by) and in a wheelchair as Oracle. Barbara was 18 when she become Batgirl the first time and Elle Fanning might work in the flashbacks but out of the rumoured list of actresses that were revealed by a Reddit user Jane Levy is the most realistic.
Elle Fanning is a more realistic choice for Stephanie Brown/the Spoiler.

I've been on an unexpected Amanda Seyfried binge, so........Amanda Seyfried?
good actress, doesn't have the most consistent filmography, but is still likeable.

So it appears. I mean, I didn't know Henry Cavill before he was cast as Superman so perhaps they'll let Whedon do his thing. I knew of Henry Cavill from The Tudors before he was cast as Superman. Yeah, he was old hat to me. I knew him from The Count of Monte Cristo with Jim Caviezel.

They ll work around it if they have too I’d prefer they didn’t. We already have an ageism problem in Hollywood with women struggling to get roles in their mid to late 30s and the last thing we need next is 20 year olds taking roles that are written for women in their late 20s/early 30s. If Katheryn Winnick debuts as the Black Canary in Batgirl you can count on Batgirl having an older actress for the role 'cause Batgirl and Black Canary are best friends and around the same age and one of the main things Geoff Johns criticised about the failed 'Birds of Prey' TV show was the decision to have Barbara and Dinah in a mother daughter type of relationship as opposed to being best friends the same age. With Geoff in charge there is NO WAY he will let them make the same mistakes as the TV show. For Birds of Prey to work in the future Batgirl, Black Canary, the Huntress, Lady Blackhawk etc need to be around the same age and since it is 'Batgirl and Birds of Prey' now and Barbara is the leader and it was Geoff's decision to rename it 'Batgirl and Birds of Prey' to emphasise Barbara being the leader Barbara is likely to be the oldest.

Barbara is a weird case where she started off as an older character and got de-aged. Originally she was meant to be a love interest for Bruce so they did things like make her a Congresswoman and stuff, with Dick Grayson as a younger guy who wanted her but had no chance with her.
Then when they decided to age Dick up to become Nightwing, they figured since Bruce had enough love interests that Dick SHOULD have a chance with Barbara so they gradually de-aged her so she was now only a little older than Dick (who was allowed to grow up into a man).

I'd love to see Mary Elizabeth Winstead take on the role. She's the perfect age and a great actress. Emmy Rossum would be another good one too Nice choices! Either one would work for me as I'm a big fan of Rossum especially .
