Yes, he is but he's overrated. 'Aliens' is a masterpiece but 'Avatar' and many others are not so good.

Obviously. Even Avatar, which I hated, is well made. He's just not a great writer. Titanic was saved from a mediocre script with great actors, but Avatar had to rely on the charisma of Sam Worthington and Uhura.
