We all know what he said to that cop. "Jews are responsible for all the world's wars" or something like that. He was drunk, belligerent and bitter, sore and angry after being bullied by Hollywood for making Passion of The Christ.
Let's just forget what he said to his girlfriend, Oksana in those recordings for now.
Let's focus on the anti-Semitic remark.
More recently, Shirley MacLaine said that Jews complaining about the Nazi Holocaust are victims of their own karma. She's basically saying that Jews deserved it.
Everyone at the Oscars gave her a standing ovation. BUT Mel is practically crucified. WHY?

This is the first time I am hearing this, but, I am almost certain that the Jewish community will have something to say about it, just as they did with Mr. Gibson.

I reckon it's easier appearance-wise going after an actor known for playing tough guys than a seventy-something old woman.

Not the same.
Mel Gibson made a generalization about Jews--that they are troublemakers, hate non jews etc... She was saying that as individuals regardless of race or religion-they may face karmic justice in a later life.
And isn't Shirley MacClaine Jewish herself? Sometimes it is ok for one of the tribe to critique jews, but if the goyim (animals) do it, then it is a serious offense because they should never insult the chosen.
Mel Gibson was pretty mild though. Mark Twain or HG Wells or Raold Dahl were much more critical of Jews.
Voltaire said "You have surpassed all nations in impertinent fables, in bad conduct, and in barbarism. You deserved to be punished, for this is your destiny."
Vanessa Redgrave was blacklisted from Hollywood for 2 decades despite being a popular star.
Marlon Brando said Jews control Hollywood and they should be sensitive to other people's suffering and he was crucified. Rachel Weicz said the same and no big deal because she is Jewish. Oy the double standards.
Mel Gibson's rant was interesting because it happened when Israel was bombing Lebanon, destroyed the oil depots on the ports and prevented eco crews from cleaning it up. And they have a knack for bombing designated UN shelters--over and over.
He is lucky they only banished him for a few years.

I hadn't even heard about Shirley MacLaine, but I do not follow celebrity news for the most part. Mel's racists outbursts kind of revealed him as a deranged individual. I cannot imagine somebody backing him up on it. I for one, do not agree with anti-Semitism. Anyone who denies the Holocaust is a fool to dispute the facts that were reported by our servicemen who liberated the concentration camps at the end of WWII. I believe THEM over these revisionist fools who want to deny it!!

Now there are some Jews, like George Soros, who are trying to control the world. I don't associate these people with Judiism. These are GODLESS people, not promoting any religion at all.

Well, he is back. I just saw the trailer for Daddy's Home 2. Although his appearance didn't generate any laughs from the audience I was with.
If a hardcore liberal like Sean Penn is willing to work with him than I guess this means that everything is forgiven.

I'm not familiar with Shirley MacLaine's work but, as somebody else had pointed out, going after Mel is easier because people know who he is. I'm sure they've heard about the Lethal Weapon franchise at some point.
I never cared about what he said. I figured he was on some drunken rant and probably didn't know what he was talking about. Drunk people aren't usually known for having the best judgement.
Regardless, I'll never stop watching his movies.

Anyone who denies the Holocaust is a fool to dispute the facts that were reported by our servicemen who liberated the concentration camps at the end of WWII. I believe THEM over these revisionist fools who want to deny it!! The Red Cross said they found no evidence of gas chambers. The best reason to question the story is that you can go to jail in some countries for questioning it. This makes no sense at all. It makes no sense to single out this period in history as something that needs to be canonized and taught to children unless one believes Jews are the chosen people and better than everyone else--isn't that what the Nazis were accused of--a supremacist ideology? Many more people were said to be exterminated by the Soviets--10 million to 65 million by 1989. Western media hardly pays attention. Don't think they ever made a movie on the Holodomor. . If Germany was so bad, why were jews living there in the first place? 5 million lived there. If Germans had a homicidal hatred of Jews to the point where they would construct camps and exterminate them en masse with a pesticide--and somehow make the ashes disappear, and one has to ask why Hollywood didnt advertise the story after 1945. It was not talked about in a Hollywood film until the 70s. If something is true there is zero reason to make it a crime to question it. It is Orwellian. When Mel Gibson met Winona Ryder and heard she was Jewish he said, "so you are an oven dodger."
