Yeah, I get it, he should've been retired years ago, but he's a large part of what made the show great and it has not been great since Elliot left, it REALLY hasn't been great since Munch left, we miss his cynicism and conspiracy ramblings.

I do. For me a great drama has that bit of humor to it. He left & apparently they told Ice T to quit the humor. Now it's just so depressing & stagnant. Once in awhile Carisi has a good couple of lines. But they unfortunately paired him with Rollins.

Yeah, he was great. Not sure why they de-emphasized his character the way they did and basically phased him out.

OMG, MOST definitely. SVU is a shadow of what it once was.
However, I do wonder if wasn't because of health reasons. He came back last year for a couple of episodes and he was definitely not looking good.

Really? In interviews circa 2007 he expressed surprise that he was basically being written out and said he felt hurt about it. I guess it's possible he's developed some health issues in the interim, since Richard Belzer is not necessary a super-young guy.

In the episode last year, he was sitting down playing with Benson's son. He got up, and was breathing pretty hard, like he was having a hard time catching his breath. I've had family members with COPD and that's exactly what it looks like.

Weirdly enough we had a little mini-Munch Marathon just a couple weekends ago. We watched his character's appearances in X-Files, Arrested Development, and a couple classic episodes of SVU. Good stuff.

Tonight's episode really screams of Munch, he would've been the cherry on top.

I too miss him very much. I guess it has taken a toll on him commuting from France for so many years. I know he's lived there for quite a while. He's 72 now and jet-lag must be catching up with him. He and Ice-T added the character and humor to the show.

Yep, no humor left. A great drama always has that bit of humor, IMO.

I was always a Belzer fan. He is getting on, but no one was sexier, back in the day.
I really like the current cast, with Benson as head of the department and Rollins, Carisi and Fin. I don't really miss Stabler, that was resolved.

It's why I stopped watching show. And he was seriously underused before he left.
And on another subject, GODDAM HE IS UGLY
