Something I just thought of, both relevant to this and to your other thread, mszanadu : to what extent was "Number 12 Looks Just Like You" inspired by Brave New World? "Instant smile" seems a direct descendant of Huxley's "soma," as does the connection with eugenics and biology. The Wiki informs me that the episode was based on Charles Beaumont's "The Beautiful People" ('52), which could easily have been influenced by Huxley's novel ('31). I really have no idea, just wondering. Oh, and that reminds me of another one, regarding this episode, for your other thread!
