1. Dev Patel, Lion
2. Mahershala All, Moonlight
3. Michael Shannon, Nocturnal Animals
4. Jeff Bridges, Hell or High Water
5. Lucas Hedges, Manchester by the Sea - I don't know why he was nominated, George MacKay from Captain Fantastic was MUCH better.

From best to worst actresses in a supporting roles:
1. Nicole Kidman, Lion
2. Naomie Harris, Moonlight
3. Michelle Williams, Manchester by the Sea

Viola Davis, Fences
Octavia Spencer,Hidden Figures
(haven't seen both movies)

Because he shares half the movie with the child actor and because it is an easy sell to get him a nomination. He would have had no chance in the lead category due to the competition.

I agree that he is lead btw but I understand the supporting argument.
