Love them, was introduced to them in a major way by a roommate who had tons of their DVDs. We would sit around and giggle like idiots.

Then later I watched more because the director Sam Raimi said he was a big fan and had borrowed from their slapstick routines for his 'Evil Dead' movies.

Overwhelming hatred for the 3 Stooges. The showing of their shirts on TV led to eye-poking and head nuggies from my older brother. Violence for the sake of comedy leads to an unacceptable situation.
But I am a girl, so probably not their target audience.

I own every short that these knuckleheads appeared in. I also own a copy of "The Three Stooges" - an illustrated history by Michael Fleming with a foreword by (gasp) Mel Gibson.
Curly Howard (Jerome Horwitz) is probably the greatest physical comedian of all time.

I grew up watching them and had no idea just how old these shorts, as well as the Stooges themselves were, until years later. Moe and Shemp were born in the friggin 1800’s! I also didn’t know that Shemp was the oldest, since Moe was the brother that actually managed the act. In a lot of the shorts you still see horse drawn vehicles being used, so that’s how long ago it was. I once saw the Stooges in a movie named Snow White And The Three Stooges, that came out in the later years of their careers. At this point the Stooges had been completely sanitized, and gone was the type of physical comedy had drawn me to them in the first place. There was a more recent Three Stooges movie that came out a few years back, but I haven’t seen it.

I've loved the Three Stooges, the ones with Curly only, for decades--I even got my 8 year old niece and nephew hooked on them--Curly was a comic genius, and all three stooges made a great team--They used to get physically hurt quite a bit, despite some stand-ins at times--Curly's uncontrolled high blood pressure gave him a stroke in 1945(hospital report: "severe hypertension",at age 41,and eventually killed him in 1952 at age 49--R.I.P. to him and Larry and Moe

I really never felt that Shemp was a "stooge". IMO, he was a comedic character actor, and a good one, too. I loved him as Joe Gueleph in THE BANK DICK and as Sinbad (speaking in a "Noo Yawk" accent) in ARABIAN NIGHTS. But when Curly suffered a stroke and was forced to leave the team, Shemp was pressed into service as his replacement. But, to me, Curly was the far better "stooge".
Please don't get me started on Joe Besser or "Curly" Joe de Rita. Well, to be honest, they weren't really bad; it was just that the industry forced the Stooges to tone down their slapstick, especially the violent gags.

I used to love watching them as a kid when their shorts were shown on a local UHF channel every afternoon. But then I hit puberty, and they suddenly lost their charm for me. I guess there's something in the idea that their appeal is generally confined to males.

I actually like Shemp. I didn't like Curly Joe or whoever that later guy was though.

Love them. They are pure comedy gold! One of the longest running comedy teams in showbiz history. I have the book "Moe Howard and the 3 Stooges" written by Moe himself. I can't say enough good things about them.

Shemp was indeed a stooge. He is hilarious in all the shorts after taking over after Curly Howard's demise. After Shemp, the act went into the toilet with Joe Besser and Joe DeRita...

Better late than never: yes, I like the Stooges, and am probably in the minority in finding Shemp the funniest of the trio (from their Columbia days). Great fun to watch, I've long since given up trying to analyze them or their appeal, as in "why are the Stooges more popular today than the Marx Brothers?", and other such matters. There's no point in trying to explainin it: they just ARE.

Hell yeah. The Stooges are awesome. I wasn't crazy about the gay one but everything with Shemp or earlier were gold.
