Armageddon - 3/10 That was enough for me. I never watched another movie directed by Michael Bay again. Fair enough, but I'd recommend giving 13 Hours a shot, very intense film.

Look at Ebert's Armageddon rating compared to his rating of The Rock for example. 1/4 stars vs. 3.5/4 stars. Then again, you seem to be incredibly picky with movies. Now I'm not saying people should just trust Roger Ebert but I do find his Michael Bay ratings amusing. Bad Boys - 2/4 The Rock - 3.5/4 Armageddon - 1/4 Pearl Harbor - 1.5/4 Bad Boys II - 1/4 The Island - 3/4 Transformers - 3/4 Revenge of the Fallen - 1/4 Dark of the Moon - 1/4

How well you like The Rock will also hugely depend on how big of a fan of Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery you are in general. Ed Harris gives the best performance of any Michael Bay movie in The Rock too. Not that that is very difficult LOL.

not too well versed in Bay's films, but.... 1.Transformers 1 - 7/10 2.Armageddon - 7/10 3.Pain and Gain.....idk how to rate this film.......as film itself.... 6.5.....but as a disgustingly tone deaf film about true events....I don't know.....I just don't know... 4.Bad Boys - 6/10 5. The Island - 5.5/10 6.Transformers 2 -5/10 7. Transformers 3 - 4/10 can't properly rate Transformers 4 since I have and can only watch it in segments, and have never seen Bad Boys 2, The Rock (well sorta) or Pearl Harbor. Pain & Gain's not an easy film to watch and judge, its divisive but for a Bay film its a very different type of "divisive", as in there can be serious debate over its content and presentation and its portrayal of real life events and not just on a basic "good or bad, pick one" type of way that's common with most of his films, which makes it all the more "interesting". I really liked the film, but think a TV mini-series would've suited the story a bit better because there were more people involved and more crazier details they glossed over for runtime - For instance, the reason why they decided to kidnap Marc Schiller( Viktor Kershaw in the film) during the day time in outfit was because they intended to kidnap him on Halloween night, however they decided to get wasted and party hard at a strip club instead. It's about a guy who was kidnapped tortured by three sociopathic body builders. I get Bay maybe wanted the viewer to somewhat empathize with these people......but their horrible acts are played for chuckles, I mean there is a scene where they kill a real woman and they play it almost like Marvin during Pulp Fiction.

Pain and Gain Bad Boys 13 Hours The Rock
All of his other movies downright suck. Transformers 2 is the worst of the bunch.

I get Bay maybe wanted the viewer to somewhat empathize with these people......but their horrible acts are played for chuckles, I mean there is a scene where they kill a real woman and they play it almost like Marvin during Pulp Fiction. I feel Bay's intention, as well as the writers', was for the viewer to only have relatability on the fact that they were in crummy conditions and wanting better things, jealous of those who do have it all even when it feels that they really shouldn't. But nothing beyond that line, because the Sun Gym trio are shown to be slimy, egotistical, shallow, mentally disturbed, and obviously are much more accustomed to using their fists instead of actually thinking out a situation as they encounter it. A lot of the film's dark humor comes out of that their stupidity and incompetence, and how bizarre/unreal the whole story is - hence why the film stops for a brief second to remind the viewer that it is still a true story( Scary as it sounds, the true story behind P&G doesn't even make the top five most bizarre in Florida history...). Pete Collins, who covered the whole string of events in his articles which the film was influenced by were also written in a darkly comedic tone.

Dark of the Moon is underrated imo. Sentinel Prime is an awesome villain and the Chicago scene was amazing
