Seems a bit premature seeing that it hasn't yet grossed more GOTG2 (not saying it won't), and SHC had a strong opening weekend. Also, all a bit insular as it is just about domestic gross...but the worldwide total, and the Foreign total, arguably are more important. WW is way off the top 2 worldwide, and some way off GOTG2 in third. In fact in that respect WW was a failure grossing only just slightly above half its takings overseas (50.6%)....you have to go all the way down the 17th highest worldwide grosser to find a film that performed as badly or worse overseas (Lego Batman Movie). Yes Wonder Woman may "win"....during a specific period...in the smaller of the two markets. WW isn't doing badly overseas. It made about $90 million in China, and still has Japan to open in. It's also been showing pretty strong legs in most foreign markets. The movie is doing great. Also, I don't quite see how foreign totals are more important than domestic totals. Don't studios gain a greater percentage of a film's domestic gross than they do the worldwide gross?

True, but Americans should really stop thinking that they're the only people who matter. Yes, these movies' domestic BO does matter more to the movie financially, but worldwide BO is a better indicator of whether a movie was appreciated by the general audience or not. In the end, it is a movie's worldwide BO and not the domestic BO which shows its total income and dictates just how successful it was.

Being part of that foreign totals it matters to me. I am disapointed in foreign audiences though. Transformers, Fast and Furious and POTC franchises would be dead without foreign money. And it's a shame we eat up that garbage.

True it is not doing badly...but comparatively it's share of overseas BO in its total is the lowest of all its "competitors". I do admit though I was unaware it had not been released in Japan yet, so it could make a difference, though I think they screwed the pooch on that one seeing DVD quality downloads have been available for quite a few weeks now.

Japan is almost always late in showing movies. From what I was told, it was because they needed to translate the movies in Japanese.

From what I understand, Japan has some pretty strict anti-piracy laws, so that's why films tend to get released late over there.

They needed to die a long time ago.

That's a pretty big drop from its predecessor.

If you ask me, that's still too much for that piece of shit to be making. I can't believe they're still making THAT much.

Was it you that said WW won't pass Suicide Squad? no, but anything below 800 million is poor Liar. I guess because you didn't want to look stupid, again

I think WW can pass GotG2 but SMH might give it a run for its money. Doesn't look like SMH will give Wonder Woman much of a challenge. SMH is exected to take in $47.5M this weekend. That's a 59.5% drop from opening weekend (compared to Wonder Woman's 43.4% drop the 2nd weekend). After this weekend, SMH is still ahead of Wonder Woman but the gap has narrowed to $164.5M for SMH and $161.8M for Wonder Woman.
After 3 weekends, Wonder Woman had $203M. That means if SMH has a 3rd weekend drop of more than 20% (which is highly likely given that Dunkirk is coming out next weekend and War for the Planet of the Apes will be in its 2nd weekend), then SMH will have fallen behind the pace of Wonder Woman after just 3 weekends. So by the end of the summer, Wonder Woman will have beaten SMH.
