There have been a bunch of controversy in the casting in SMH, particularly the side characters. Now that we've had a chance to see it, how do you feel about these characters:
1. Ned 2. Flash 3. Michelle 4. Aunt May 5. Liz 6. Toombs
Obviously, Toombs was great. Marisa Tomei seems to look more her age here than in CW, and I think she makes a perfect Aunt May for Peter's 15 yr old age. Liz was fine. Nothing great, but no real complaints either. If I had to nitpick I'd say she didn't look quite as biracial as she supposedly is, but that really isn't a big deal. Ned... is ok. There were times I feel the acting was a bit lacking but in general he was an enjoyable character and added something to the story.
But Flash and Michelle... oh wow. I originally didn't like the casting for Flash but I thought I'd give him a chance and watch the movie first. Nope, I was right. Flash seemed more like an irritating spoiled little kid than an actual bully. He also looked like a few years younger than Parker, which was weird. In any case, I can see what they were going for, but they would been better off just making a different character altogether.
As for Michelle, I thought she was completely useless. It's not that the character was bad in itself, it's just that she had no purpose at all. She felt tacked on, and I can see now that they'll be pushing for her to be Peter's love interest (or at least a very close friend) in upcoming movies. Still in this movie, the literally had nothing to do except act weird.

He was OK 3-A new take on MJ, I guess. Still a mistery so let's see. The few scenes she was in were good. 4-Hot and great 5-She wasn't very pertinent, it could have been anyone really. 6-Amazingly good! The Race and whatnot it's secondary to me.

Still in this movie, the literally had nothing to do except act weird. 1. Ned - I liked Ned a lot. I didn't fall in love with him like some of the critics did.2. Flash - Tony Revolori's Flash is the best version of the character in any Spider-Man movie. I was thrilled to see them move away from the cliché of a physical bully to more of one Peter could match wits with. 3. Michelle - I liked her overall - especially the way she seemed to be tracking Peter intensely while making it appear to be nonchalant or coincidental. A second viewing rewards her performance very much.4. Aunt May - Phenomenal. It was time for Aunt May to lose the geriatric vibe. I've been lobbying for a younger may since the early 2000s.5. Liz - Very believable as a teenaged girl caught up in her life and facing new challenges.6. Toombs - Keaton delivers. He's brilliant. My one complaint is that his everyman-fighting-the-system justification breaks down quickly when you see his posh suburban digs.SaveSave

Flash... blend to me. As a bully he worked but I didnt really care for his character. I am curious about that date with Black Widow though. 3. Michelle. Show stealer. She was awesome. Too little in the movie yet but that will change. Wouldnt be surprised if she already knows... 4. Aunt May. What the f. She was an aunt. I liked they made her look older and that opinion on Tony Stark... 👍👍👍 5. Liz. Crush on Spider-man = Crush on Peter I guess. I didnt get that part. 6. Toombs. Best part of the movie. Liked his speech while stalling Peter. And that scene where they were talking in the car... chillingly good. Michael Keaton was great.

...they would been better off just making a different character altogether. that's how i felt about pretty much the whole supporting cast tbh. didn't much like Ned. the jokes just didn't hit for me and i don't like everyone knowing Spider-Man's secret identity. Flash was okay i guess. making him more of an academic rival is probably the only way that actor could've worked. i hope they don't try making him into Agent Venom. i like Michelle but the MJ thing irritates me. Aunt Tomei is weird but i knew it was going to be weird. i might mind more if they'd used an actress i wasn't already fond of. also i don't like everyone knowing Spider-Man's secret identity. didn't like Liz. it wasn't really clear to me what Peter saw in her. or what she saw in him. i'm glad she moved to Australia. Toombs was terrific. best MCU villain since... well, Ego.

Toomes - Keaton was definitely the All star of this movie, wish he had a tad bit more screen time.
Flash - Still miscast i was not a fan of this version prefer the ASM version especially bif Agent Venom is a possibility
Michelle - I do agree that it may seem like she might not have much of purpose for now,but you gotta give Zendaya credit for transforming herself.
Ned - Only problen is he is not called Ganke when its clear thats who he is Instead of giving him the same name as one of the Hobgoblins. Oh well there is Roderick Kingsley
Liz - she was cute did a good job,but I didn't buy her as a Teen looks more early 20s.
Aunt May - Marisa did a great job.
