In a word. FOX.
After this opening, there is at least going to be a sit-down if not a draft deal on the table between Marvel and Fox (for one or more characters or properties). Spider-Man: Homecoming's opening has to have some, if not all, of the suits at FOX having visions of revitalized X product.
I could be wrong but, I think a deal is imminent. There will be salty tears when the Children of the Atom come home.

Why though? After the success of Deadpool and Logan, don't hold your breath. The X-Men team films have been mostly garbage in my opinion, but they haven't bombed hard enough at the box office to stop Fox from pumping them out. There's no incentive for Fox to negotiate at this point.

This is what I am hoping for and I have said it before. Fox and Marvel have been playing nice since the Marvel/Sony deal. Fox has been watching carefully on the Spider-man situation. Now that they see it can work they may be willing to work out a deal about that one property with so much potential which they never could make work. Yes the first family... They would fit perfectly in the apparent cosmic route the MCU is about to take after Avengers 4. If that than works out the current FoX-Men have been milked out to the core and they will be brought in.
At least thats how I picture it.

I would be very excited to see the Fantastic Four in the MCU. But I really don't think the MCU needs the X-Men. I would let Fox just keep doing what they are doing with the mutants.

My thoughts exactly. I think a shared universe with both the X Men and The Avengers would be too crowded. Besides do we really need this many X Men movies anyway? We've gotten what? 9 of them so far? Maybe it's time to let them rest for a while. I just want a good F4 origin story. Hopefully that is what they're talking about.

You MCU fanatics are delusional. Fox is never, NEVER going to give up the Xmen. Keep dreaming.

I'm not sure how far the discussion will go, but certainly in a Fox planning room there has at least been a mention about the possibility of working a deal out. Whether that has been brought to Marvel, or if anybody has entertained a call from Marvel on a serious level, IDK.

but why?
they just made two massive films with Deadpool and Logan (granted Logan was the end of a chapter), but they have Dark Phoenix, Deadpool 2, and New Mutants all either shooting or completing pre-production.
the only one they should give up on is probably Fantastic Four

Not so much. It isnt so right now. One can hope though. X-Men at Marvel would suck. Fox is making original movies that Marvel would never make. Do people read what they write? x-men is marvel. oh you mean the movies? people seem to forget who invented the characters: it was marvel by the way. i wish they didn't and fox would have jack shit. cut them out of the comics completely. end of story. oh, wait...

So you typed that and after reading it patted yourself on the back for what you mistakenly thought was clever wordplay? Next time get the opinion of someone who is..... well, actually clever. I'll give you one thing. You insanely obsessed MCU guys are usually good for a laugh.
