My expectation for TLJ is I'd hope it slides into top 3 territory, obviously.

1. Star Wars 2. The Empire Strikes Back 3. Revenge of the Sith 4. Rogue One 5. The Force Awakens 6. Return of the Jedi 7. Attack of the Clones 8. The Phantom Menace I'm amending my old list. 1. The Empire Strikes Back 2. Star Wars 3. Revenge of the Sith 4. Rogue One 5. Return of the Jedi 6. The Force Awakens 7. Attack of the Clones 8. The Phantom Menace 9. The Last Jedi Can't believe what I just typed. In all fairness, a second viewing will almost definitely help TLJ. These rankings may shift again in a week or so.

6. TLJ B+6. AOTC B+7. TFA B8. TPM B-My expectation for TLJ is I'd hope it slides into top 3 territory, obviously. Well... it didn't. A good movie though, I enjoyed it. Alas, the gravitas is not with this 'trilogy'. I will add that a year with R1 has bumped it ahead of ESB for me. I'm probably just fatigued with ESB after a bazillion viewings.

1. Revenge of the Sith 2. Attack of the Clones 3. The Phantom Menace 4. Return of the Jedi 5. The Empire Strikes Back 6. A New Hope Are there any others I'm forgetting??? I think that's it. What puts the three prequels ahead of the three originals for you? Part of it is nostalgia and the fact that I grew up with the PT and it was my "Star Wars." I think I was at the perfect age to enjoy them as a kid when they came out. I was 4 when Episode I came out, 7 when Episode II came out and 10 when Episode III came out. It's not just nostalgia, lightsaber duels or special effects of why I lean towards the PT more than the OT. I've just digged the characters more in the PT than the OT. I loved how George Lucas made the PT and more morally grey story and the not the just a simple black and white good vs. evil story of the OT. I know a lot of people didn't think was executed right and like to criticize Luca's writing skills, but I honestly thought the execution was fine and done very well (in my opinion of course). The romance between Anakin and Padme never bothered that much, nor does some of the wooden dialogue because their is bad dialogue in the OT and especially the new movies. I loved the how the Prequels took a classic iconic one-dimensional 80's villain and actually made him into a interesting character by giving us a full backstory of his life and how he ended becoming what he was. I get a lot of older fans had a completely different vision in their mind of who Anakin Skywalker was and how he became Darth Vader and that's why a lot of them were and still are disappointed with the story we got instead, but for someone who never grew up on the OT and was completely new to Star Wars, I'm glad we got what we got. I also love how the PT greatly expanded the Star Wars universe and loved how they showed us the Jedi in the prime and all the different and cool technology they had in that period. I feel like George Lucas once again revolutionized the film industry again (maybe not pop culture wise) by breaking the boundaries of what could be done in film with Episodes I-III in it that paved the way for films like the LOTR trilogy, the Harry Potter saga, the Superhero boom with Spider-Man in the Early 2000's etc. I really miss the innovation and creativity that George Lucas always brought with Star Wars. And I proud to grow up in a culture before things like YouTube and Nostaliga Critic were around and it became cool to bash them and give in to all the peer pressure on the Internet and say "Oh, those films raped my childhood" or "Oh, I liked them when I was a kid, but then I grew up and realized they were terrible." Ridiculous.
