I would say that it's better than most of the previous Spider-Man films EXCEPT Spider-Man 2 which is a GREAT movie. My only major problem with it is that it felt like it was retrending some elements from Sam Raimi films in regards to the villian. "Reminds me of Green Goblin with the "my friend's dad is the main baddie" and Sandman with "I'm doing this for my daughter". Otherwise it was a fun movie but nothing truly impressive.

I'm sorry but nothing in this film was as stirring and inspiring as the first two Spider-Man movies. And I should be able to gush over this awesome character. It's the same problem with the Man of Steel compared to Superman in 78. These characters are American heroes. They shouldn't be made to look weak or helpless or pathetic. This Spider-Man feels pathetic. He doesn't get to demonstrate any real super powers. He fumbles and bumbles far too often. It's a mess of a movie IMO.
The lighting was atrocious during the nighttime scenes. I couldn't tell what was going on.
I wish people would stop trashing Raimi's Green Goblin. Willem Dafoe was fcking perfect in that role. We all know it. And that final fight between him and Peter is more intense and intimate, making the audience care more than any other fight in Spider-Man movies since. Now, don't get me wrong. The Doc Ock / Spidey fight on the train is technically cinematic gold. It's wonderful fun. I'm just talking about seeing some raw emotion in our superhero. He exploded on his arch enemy, Green Goblin after having his ass handed to him. And it was a wonderful movie-going experience.
NOTHING in the MCU film have been able to top that scene.

The appeal with Spider-man compared to Superman was that he was not invincible. In the early comics he was beaten all the time.
The scene in the movie where he lifts the debris off of him was taken from a 60's comic.

I hear you but the way they filmed it, the way they set it up, that moment doesn't do as much for me as when Spider-Man stops the train from falling or even beats the crap out of some potential rapists, saving MJ and then kissing her.

My baby is angling for her 3rd viewing. I suggested Big Sleep or Despicable Me 3 but she suggested Spidey.

So you want all heroes to be a bunch of Mary Sues? In this movie just like the comics he's still learning and trying to become Spider Man. There are probably over a dozen scenes in the MCU that can top that scene. That scene has raw emotion but so did the finale of Civil War and Winter Soldier. The scene just felt too Raimi and yes I liked the intensity but calling it cinematic gold is very far fetched same goes for the train fight scene.

Oh, look, the retarded Fox-Men fans are here. Mostly Luke given he clearly just wants to suck off James Cameron, Sam Raimi and Bryan Singer.

The Marveltards are triggered by an opinion that isn't 100% positive. Shocking!
