The thread about Memorable Mothers and Sons brought forth some pretty toxic relationships and some loving families in some terrific films. Now it's time for Fathers and Daughters.
To start us off : The O'Haras . Scarlett and Gerald.

Deep in the wilds of the far east Tiger Haynes ( Lon Chaney) traps wild animals for a living, and bears the scars of his dangerous occupation on his face. He cares for only one thing in life: his beloved livewire daughter, Toyo ( Lupe Velez) in Tod Browning's excellent film Where East Is East (1929)... Father and daughter in some rough play ! ....

I'm trying my best to come with an answer, but the first which came to mind, Father of the Bride, has already been mentioned.
The other one which comes to my mind is in a film which isn't really a classic, called School for Randle (1949) starring Frank Randle, a comedy which concerns a father trying to re-connect with his daughter, who was adopted by another family after his wife died (he works at the school she is attending and knows who she is). This was among a number of zero-budget films produced for showing in Northern England only, and these films were popular with their intended working class audience. I'm planning to re-watch this film at some point, who knows whether I'll enjoy it or not.

A highly recommended world cinema classic is the 1972 Bulgarian film Kozijat rog , The Goat Horn. The excellent film is set in the 17th century, it is a beautifully filmed, compelling revenge tale of a shepherd Karaivan, who's wife has been murdered in front of their young daughter Maria. Following the tragedy, obsessed with revenge he spends a number of years in the hills raising and training his daughter to be a skilled and ruthless killer, to avenge the death of their mother/wife ...

Matthew the Swordsman Father of the Bride was one of the first I thought of as well.
I'm never picky about "CLASSIC" classic status in these threads. That little known film sounds interesting (and pretty hard to find. kinda like manfromplanetx 's that always sound so good !

A compelling psychological film with a Father/Daughter theme, an intensely dramatic relationship is ... À nos amours , To Our Loves (1983) from Maurice Pialat This excellent film is notable for being the feature film debut of 15 year old Sandrine Bonnaire, playing the rebellious and promiscuous daughter Suzanne . Director Maurice Pialat plays the overbearing father...
