July 14th marks the 25th anniversary of Megadeth's "Countdown to Extinction" album. Any Megadeth fans or fans of this album here? How has the album held up after 25 years?
I think it's one of Megadeth's best albums and second to "Rust in Peace" as the best 90's Megadeth album. You have the radio singles like Symphony of Destruction, Sweating Bullets, Foreclosure of a Dream, and Skin O' My Teeth, but you also have solid album songs like Architecture of Aggression, Captive Honour, Ashes in Your Mouth, and High Speed Dirt. I know this album marked Megadeth becoming more commercial and mainstream with their music, but the music here is so good that it's a tight mix of radio-friendly stuff but also hard and heavy music that Megadeth is known for.
