Spidey, could you please explain to me why OLD YELLER is your favorite? I could never love any movie where an animal is killed. Yeah, yeah--I realize the idea is to teach kids a moral lesson, but I still don't like it.
BTW, I forgot to mention: Rene and Big Red.

Spidey, could you please explain to me why OLD YELLER is your favorite? I could never love any movie where an animal is killed. Yeah, yeah--I realize the idea is to teach kids a moral lesson, but I still don't like it. BTW, I forgot to mention: Rene and Big Red. I saw it as a child with my family not long after I lost my first dog, and I think it provided some healing in some odd way - with my familie's help, which was significant. I saw it again sometime in the sixties, and I still loved it. A lot of my connection to it is tied up with my family and that first loss of an animal that I loved. As for RENE, I haven't seen it. But I read and loved the novel, BIG RED, though I've never seen the film. Thank you for the explanation, Spidey. BIG RED is another Disney movie; while I don't think it's great, it's still pretty good.
