not in the slightest. I think Beckinsale had a promising start, but once she permanently intertwined her career into the Underworld series she became lost cause and has nothing more to offer, which is a shame. Yeah it seems that Emily Blunt took her place quite swiftly. I just watched "Love&Friendship" and she was amazing in that. Best performance by far so I believe she still has a little spark left. Perhaps if cast, it'd be her comeback role.

So while maybe being Catwoman will bolster her career.....I don't think he inclusion helps the Batman, because she has no heat. Imagine if after "Sicario" WB announced that Emily Blunt would be Catwoman, the fan community would have exploded and would generated momentum, Beckinsale's announcement would be met with an "oh, okay," because she doesn't have something to both showcase her abilities and announce her return.

The problem with an older Catwoman is that she is likely to debut in Gotham City Sirens and not The Batman...so unless she is supposed to take on a mentor-type role, she will likely be closer to Margot Robbie's age along with Ivy.

You raise a point, however it does kind of deflate the implication of Bruce's line from BvS where he says to Diana "I've known a lot of women like you..." The setting, the set-up, the delivery, you can tell he was talking about Selina Kyle with it.

My first choice would be Rebecca Ferguson for Catwoman. I love Mary Elizabeth Winstead she's my favourite pick for Zatanna. But yeah if it would lead to her joining the DCEU sooner as Catwoman or even Poison Ivy sure i'm for it. She can pull off red hair.

Why can't a lady in her late 30s be physically capable? Never said she couldn't. But this is Hollywood where age means everything. So while she may still be able to kick ass, if she is in her late 30's/early to mid 40's in order to line up better with Affleck, she will become the "Mentor/Veteran/etc." character...which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but is it the Catwoman they want to have in the DCEU going forward? It 100% depends on where she makes her debut...if she is a cameo in The Batman, she will be older, but if you don't see her till Sirens, they would cast her younger. And I FULLY expect them to cast Catwoman with a Black actress, possibly Asian, but definitely not white. They can't add diversity with Harley because that ship has sailed. Ivy's most iconic thing is her red hair, so while they could do a wig or dyed hair, I don't see them changing that up. Catwoman has been played by a Black woman twice before, once really well, once really badly, so I see her as the prime candidate. Hence my thought of Jenelle Monae. Tons of charisma and confidence, drop dead gorgeous, with a soul like Eartha Kitt. Could easily play both the heroic and villainous sides of her. Though if they went older, Taraji P Henson could be fantastic...though I see her as a bit more on the pure villain side.

And why not both? It doesn't have to get the mass audience on board, but the film fan community. And with Kate Beckinsale I no longer have interest in future projects, because personally her stardom is tainted by the underworld series.

If they can have a middle-aged Batman moving forward and have him still kick ass, I don't see why a late 30s Catwoman can't do the same. Look at Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde and Fury Road.

An inspired choice, but chances would be pretty small because she isn't "Hollywood enough", there are very few theatrically released movies she's actually led, by herself I count only Disney's Ice Princess in 2005 and Harriet The Spy from 1996. Her being on one of the DC-CW shows is more a possibility.

My choices- in no particular order and all them likely considered a 'fat chance' to actually get the role....
Carla Gugino Sofia Boutella Cate Blanchette Charlise Theron Janelle Monae---someone else named her and I totally agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Samantha Mathis (anyone remember the park ranger from BROKEN ARROW?) Ingrid Bolso Berdal (Atalanta in the Dwayne Jonson HERCULES movie) Kim Englebrecht (if anyone watched SyFy's DOMINION, she was the higher angel/traitor/protector Noma Walker) Lesley-Ann Brandt (LUFICER'S Maize) Rachel Skarsten (LOST GIRL's snarky Valkyrie, also REIGN's Queen Elizabeth I) Ksenia Solo (LOST GIRL's lone human Kenzie, also TURN)
Carla G. has the sexiness, the mystery, the ability to break your heart with a look, and she's the right age. PLus, she's done stunts so I don't think that would be a deterrent for her. Anyone who has seen the clips from THE MUMMY (2017) or has seen her in START TREK BEYOND knows Sofia B. can handle the stunts and she's a good actress, plus she can do the mysterious-yet-sexy-yet-dangerous vibe. Cate B. - need I say more? Charlize Theron can probably do the stunts with a hand tied behind her back and her eyes shut, she's got that dangerous/sexy yet broken with sharp edges, kind of energy to a few of her roles, so I would think she could do a complex Catwoman. S.Mathis should have been TOMB RAIDER in the late 90s/early 2000s, so I'm still just hoping someone gives her that kind of role. With Ingrid B.B. is a good actress, she could easily do the stunts, and she's very tall- so I could see her having a similar energy with Affleck that Gadot had in the museum scene from BvsS, plus she's got that smirk like she knows something everyone else doesn't know. Kim E. is honestly a fantastic actress and she's got the ability to do stunts, plus she's sexy. May be a bit young against Affleck, although if Catwoman is either a Meta-human or she's just been introduced to Gotham, that could work. LUFICER'S Lesley A.B. would be a kick-arse Catwoman. She'd have Anne Hathaway's sass/snark/dry humour, Ertha Kitt's sexiness and per, and Julie Newmar's sexy-charm, plus she can rock the stunts. LOST GIRL's Rachel S. can play that playful, reading the room while seemingly being an airhead then suddenly pouncing, type Catwoman. Plus she could do stunts, as she used to do them on LOST GIRL and was believable. Ksenia S. is the least likely choice on my list, being like 4'10 and sometimes looking like she's 12 depending on her hair/makeup, but she was a dancer before she acted and if you ever see a picture of her in LOST GIRL with her ink black hair and ice-blue eyes, she almost does look like a cat. SHe's got the look and she's got the grace, sass, spunk, and the ability to break your heart with her characters.

Atomic Blonde isn't out yet (or at least I haven't seen it yet) so we can't judge that movie yet. Furiosa was badass but they were only able to achieve that badassery by doing away with her more feminine traits. Same way Sarah Connor was badass. But you can't take that route with Catwoman. Catwoman's sensuality is part of her character. Not saying it can't be done, just saying that Furiosa is not the right comparison. That said I think Charlize Theron would make a good Catwoman if we're going for the older lady.

What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say.

What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. You need to work on reading comprehension, because nowhere did I say that. What I said was, Furiosa is the wrong comparison to use for Catwoman, because Furiosa's badassery was partially an effect of removing her sensuality, something that shouldn't be done to Catwoman. So, where exactly did I say that a 41 yr old woman can't be sensual and badass at the same time? Please quote me directly on where that is implied.

i presume it was meant as less a comparison of the characters than evidence that Theron is willing and capable to put the necessary stuntwork into the role.
