What was the first car you remember riding in? My earliest car memory was riding in my parent's 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix. It was forest green with a green interior. I was probably about 3 or 4 years old. I remember how hot the vinyl seats were after the car had sat in the hot Texas summer sun for a few hours after going shopping with the parents. I remember it seemed real fast but part of that was probably because the A/C wasn't working anymore by that time (late 1970's) and the wind blew in through the open windows on the freeway.
The next car I remember pretty well was my Grandfather's 1978 Buick Riviera. He always bought Buicks until the 1980's when he started working for Ford Aerospace for awhile. He got a discount on Fords by then and had Lincolns for quite some time. The Riviera was the first "newish" car I remember being in (my Dad kept cars until they could no longer drive). It had a really neat analog clock built into the dash in front of the passenger seat above the glove box. I remember how smooth and quiet it was going down the road (big difference from our Grand Prix).
Any memories out there about your first car rides growing up?

The first car I remember specifically was a '57 Ford station wagon. This would have been in 1959 or '60. The most memorable thing about it was that it was a piece of crap. My 4 or 5 year old self could get in the back seat, close the door and lock it, then bang my shoulder against the door and knock it open. My dad usually traded cars about every 2 to 3 years, but this one only stayed for maybe 6 months.

The first car I remember well was a 1948 Mark 4 Jaguar, 2.5l 6cyl OHV engine, windscreen that hinged, sunroof, toolkit mounted in the boot lid, registration plate YH-693 and copper pipe fuel feed going over the engine to the twin SU carburettors. On a hot day climbing up steep hills the petrol would boil in the pipe, necessitating a 1/2 hour on the side of the road wrapping the fuel line with wet rags.

My dad's 1973 Nova Hatchback loved that car.

My earliest memories involve riding in My Dad's 1976 Dodge "Minnie Winnie"... (Much Like This One:) My Dad was in the Air Force, when I was growing up, and we moved to different bases every few years... The motorhome, proved useful in moving many of our belongings from place to place... Also, since both sets of My Grandparents lived in different parts of the county from where we were living, when my Dad got his yearly summer vacation, we would just travel by motorhome to see my Grandparents... We would stay at campgrounds overnight, and see wonderful scenery along the way... This tended to be the most memorable aspects of travelling when I was just a small child... So that is why I remember the RV as being the first vehicle that I remember riding in.

My mother's white Plymouth Valiant, not sure of the model year, but approximately 1960-1962, with pushbutton transmission and the spare tire set into the underside of the trunk door. Also my father's station circa early-1960s station wagon, and my aunt's late 1950s car (model unknown, but it had sizable tailfins and a nodding dog in the back window). As a little kid, I loved lying on the back seat of a car driving home at night and staring up at the back window watching the stars go by (seat belt laws were lenient/non-existent back then). I miss those little triangular windows, too.

A 1980s Toyota Corona station wagon. Was yellow. It was worn-out by the mid-1990s, but just kept on going. My mother has been driving Toyotas for as long as I can remember. She's very loyal to the brand.

My mom had a station wagon when we were little and my father had a Pinto so it was one of those two.

Not the first by any means, but one of my earliest car memories is of being driven in my grandmother's Ford Telstar. I was used to being driven in worn-out, bumpy-ride cars, and her car's ride was so smooth that it actually caused me to vomit.....
