This in line with what most of the crew have said. The most diplomatic answer I've heard is that it was a collaborate effort (at least during filming, sounds like Tobe wasn't involved in post-production). The part about the director's strike is new, though. I just assumed Spielberg stepped in because Tobe wasn't giving him what he wanted, or maybe Spielberg wanted to direct all along but no longer wanted his name on "b-movies" at that point.
