It's an insane project to tackle
It is the embodiment of what I've always said about Marvel-they needed special effects to advance to a certain level for some of their heroes to work, unlike Bats, Supes, WW, Green Arrow, etc. Those heroes have abilities Hollywood has been faking for decades, but Marvel heroes run to the more fantastical. Cap's shield hitting its marks. Mjolnir returns to Thor-hell in Dark World the poor thing was chasing him through dimensions. Wolverines's blades. Spiderman's wallcrawling.
But Medusa's hair is an entity unto itself & we're talking tv budget. The excuse for doing 3 arcs on AoS this season was Ghost Rider was EXPENSIVE to pull off, though 3 arcs actually worked pretty well. Medusa's hair is never just there. It's usually shown with a few strands in motion like snakes waiting to strike.
I'm almost wondering if Marvel wants it to fail.
Look up Isaac Perlmutter.
The man is a crony of Trump.
www.hollywoodreporter.com/features/how-marvel-became-envy-scourge-720363This is the man who wants Inhumans made.
Is it along the lines of his rumored comments about black performers that he believes mutants & genetically manipulated humans are interchangeable?
Who knows?
Inhumans was a movie when Perlmutter was in charge of movies, but there was a shakeup & Perlmutter was removed from the movie division to the TV division. Suddenly Inhumans is a TV show.
So does Marvel want this show to succeed, or are they doing it because it's Perlmutter's pet?
Problem is, the Marvel fandom is divided.
The mass audience thinks it's all Marvel without realizing until they created their own studio, Marvel licensed characters like any other book company such as the Harry Potter books, etc & licensed away their big properties-Spiderman, X-Men, Hulk, Fantastic Four. They cannot make a movie starring Hulk. He can only be a team-up or Universal gets a piece. Marvel backed away from Namor for years because he was another character they licensed, but the movie never was made.
www.hollywoodreporter.com/features/marvel-studios-origin-secrets-revealed-889795 And here we are.
Because of this, we have Marvel characters at Sony, Marvel characters at Fox, Hulk entangled with Universal & Marvel owning the rest of their heroes which has created a sub-group of fans loyal to their heroes at other studios viewing Marvel as the enemy. Those fans seem to want Marvel to fail so they seek that first bomb, that first failure.
Because even AoS, low-rated as it may be, is a good product. It has quietly plugged along, but there is 4 seasons of history to catch up on which is daunting to those who gave up in Season 1. It's worth it.
So you have X-Men fans who see Inhumans as a ripoff of that title, & DC fanboys who want every Marvel project to fail, & the trolls who exists out there who wait for every successful thing to falter.
Inhumans isn't just some tv show.
It represents an attack to some on their heroes (XMen).
It represents a winning company some want to have a loss.
I'm willing to wait to see.
I was at CCI before Snakes on a Plane & tons of people were all hyped for it during con that year.
