Aside from almost sounding like an online video (especially with Marisa Tomei in the role -- or Sally Field, even), I could see that being a literal red "spider," as in it's later revealed -- or explained -- that Peter is just cosplaying, perhaps in an authentic replica suit provided to him by Tony as a reward for/souvenir of his "internship."

It wouldn't be too far off from the comics. In one of the early ones, Aunt May found his costume, and Peter claimed that it was just a costume he was going to use to prank someone. But Aunt May didn't like that idea and confiscated the costume. Then Peter had to make do by buying a Halloween Spider-Man costume, which ended up stretching out and riding up during a Battle with one of his enemies. Hilarious storyline. I'd like to see that one of these days. The Steve Ditko Spider-Man era has always been my favorite.

Except if you're in her situation, you know this Spiderman person has popped up in your area of New York and then suddenly Tony Stark shows up with an "internship" for Peter that she gets no details for and then she catches him in an authentic spiderman suit. Come on. You think she's going to buy that it's just cosplay? seriously?

Though movies often have inconsistencies anyway, so I can still see it happening.

You are going to have a lot of trouble in life if you keep jumping to conclusions like that.

This is the one element of SMH I found unbelievable - wouldn't most teenage boys be trying to walk in on Marisa Tomei when she was undressing? His waste paper bin should be full of web encrusted tissues.

There are far worse things to walk in on a teenage boy doing.

That's as creepy as 50-year old Tony Stark spying on a high school kid and a guy named "Happy" hanging around the boys' bathroom at a high school waiting to meet with a high school kid in the bathroom.
