Aside from almost sounding like an online video (especially with Marisa Tomei in the role -- or Sally Field, even), I could see that being a literal red "spider," as in it's later revealed -- or explained -- that Peter is just cosplaying, perhaps in an authentic replica suit provided to him by Tony as a reward for/souvenir of his "internship." Except if you're in her situation, you know this Spiderman person has popped up in your area of New York and then suddenly Tony Stark shows up with an "internship" for Peter that she gets no details for and then she catches him in an authentic spiderman suit. Come on. You think she's going to buy that it's just cosplay? seriously? Beh, the comics were loaded with people randomly acting like morons to never realize Peter was Spidey. His whole "skill" at keeping his ID secret hinged on contrived stupidity.

I've known for years." And then of course Marvel retconned her death a few years later. But I pretend like that never happened.

It made May come off as incredibly cruel to Peter, especially the way they made it seem like she knew at the same time she badmouthed Spider-Man in the old comics which just made Peter more tormented. The way they did it later, where she just found out and confronted Peter directly about it and said "Did you really think after everything else I've been through I was just going to fall over and die if you told me?" was much better.

I like it. Maybe it will open the doors for Aunt May to become more involved. Why hire Marisa Tomei for something if you aren't going to give her anything to do?
