Happy Birthday Norman!
Giving us laughs with a bite, that never was tasteless.
I'm amazed looking at his credits, Martin and Lewis Scared Stiff, TV specials and shows with Bobby Darin, Henry Fonda, Danny Kaye, Martha Raye, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Andy Williams etc etc etc.
Wrote the screenplay for one of my favorites (for many unknown) The Night They Raided Minsky's 1968. (in Denmark this was called, translted to english, The Night They Invented Striptease), I still have the old vinyl and like to listen to it from time to time. Old Rudy Vallee sings too.
Sanford and Son of the 1970s, based on British Steptoe and Son, the scripts was so good they easily translated, so in Sweden we had Albert and Herbert, the junk men worked here too, in Gothenburg. The humour translated well to Swedish west coat humour. (They payed for the scripts)
All in the Family, with it's angry caucasian, hating everything. In Sweden it was called translated Under the Same Roof.
And Then There's Maude, using the talents of Bea Arthur brilliantly.
Ten years of The Jeffersons, as creator, one of the most successfull spin-offs.
Cold Turkey 1970, very funny anti-smoking movie, Dick van Dyke and Edward Everett Horton (last role)
