Back in the "good ol' days" of the IMDb message boards, there were posters with whom I had scintillating discussions and from whom I learned quite a bit. Example: Hobnob (I forget the number after his handle). We traded posts on the old "Classic Films" board quite a bit. From him, I learned that Adolph Menjou and Eugene Palette were rabid anti-Semites, and that Walter Brennan was a virulent racist who actually rejoiced when Martin Luther King was murdered!
There were other posters on other boards whom I enjoyed reading, but who are not a part of this forum. IMHO, that diminishes this forum quite a bit.
Does anyone else here have fond memories of other posters?

snsuroneSo you are saying that what you really enjoyed learning in these "scintillating discussions" on the old board was negative personal information about well known actors. Have you read Hollywood Babylon by Kenneth Anger ?

Ram used to be so cute when he would win the Garth Game by like 50 points and then complain because he had not been credited for one of his answers. There were also the ones he made up with all of the Canadians and alphabetizing names by first name. <pulling ones hair out by the roots icon>
Remember Monterey / Scotty ? "His Tough Nuts to Crack" games were always fun with the restaurants around the world, who is on this magazine cover from 1920, what do these four obscure people have in common (often all left handed). Always posted really late at night so great for insomniacs or those in farfar time zones.

...morefocusandprecision was an incredibly erudite poster on several boards on numerous topics who certain other posters detested. This poster was not easily engaged in dialogue but I got along perfectly well with this long gone poster..."morefocus" had many enemies on the "politics" board but I was not among them...

Strelnikoff – he and I vied to give the first correct answer on the old I Need To Know board, then came across each other on Classic Film and Music.
There was another poster on INTK named "Apostic" who was far more helpful than Strelnikoff and I could hope to be. Once I beat Apostic by a few seconds for an inquiry that turned out to be 36 Hours. Apostic graciously sent me a copy of the film. I heard he passed away a while ago.

Janagolightly was the bright light on Film General. She could say just the right thing needed to brighten up the day with a good old fashioned belly laugh. She weathered a storm of unjustified troll attacks with spirit and humor. I miss her mightily.
I also miss Spikopath's Weekly Reviews and commentary in WCMDYWTW and the Westerns Board.
And "that guy _______ " who arranged his reviews so that parts of the titles made a sentence (sort of.)

I miss "Ram," too. I thought that, surely, he would migrate to these boards. And, I agree about "Monterey/Scotty," who had another screen name, I think. His Tough Nuts To Crack were great quizzes. I often wondered how he came up with those questions. (MattGarth and Ram, were excellent at those. I often got 1 or 2.) "BigKingTut," didn't post very often, but he liked to present questionnaires about our personal memories, vis-a-vis the films we'd seen in various stages of our lives. He was meticulous about responding to every reply. "Addison DeWitt" was a prolific poster, for years. He disappeared, a year/more, before the IMDb format ended. Or, maybe, he changed his name, and I didn't catch on.

divtal Addison was there unto the end. I always wanted to know who he was off line as he mentioned being a working actor. Was wise enuf to know not to ask him though. Monterey once said that he got some of his questions from a "Trivia Calendar" he had (which explains why his answers often did not match ours !)
