There's a few familiar faces at the icm movie forum but I find the traffic is extremely slow there. The atmosphere is learned, scholarly and academic so I'm not much good lol. In truth, I don't find the technical format very user friendly so I don't currently post there much, once a week if that. I also joined another movie board but stopped posting there. I really like it here at imdb2 - I hope more people come and post here. I'm grateful to the creators of these boards for providing us with a home away from home. I'm (gradually) getting used to this format, but, truth be told, I really like the old one better, where there used to be pages and pages of threads under a single "umbrella" topic--a movie, TV show, or celebrity. I wonder if that's the reason some of the great posters of the past have drifted away from this forum.

We all know that pets someday will go to another world. But it always comes as a surprice when they pass away.
When little Palette left me (a cat) now almost 12 years ago, I wrote about it on old Imdb, I got so much warm support from other members, sadly I don't remember their names, except Addison de Witt who had cats over 20 Y/o. It helped me a lot back then

I wonder if that's the reason some of the great posters of the past have drifted away from this forum. I've written some quite lengthy posts here which I think turned out to be a good thing as it got me used to working in the format. I literally sat down and practised - wasn't afraid to make mistakes as I knew I could edit them out or even delete my post if necessary. Now I really appreciate the format here as the other 2 messageboards I signed up for were far more difficult to negotiate for someone with my woefully limited technical knowledge.

I mostly posted on MOVIES AWARDS on the old IMDb and I miss pacinoyes and mattsby. Pacinoyes had already disappeared before the end of the old board was announced. I've recently seen both post on MOVIE AWARDS-REDUX. I'm registered there too. It is a VERY slow board.

So many (here's a partial list).... dizexpat strelnikoff boomer baby bigkingtut jimcat amyghost maddyclassicfilms clore addison klasekfilmfan anjune cschultz gubbio josephgillis I've had the honor of forming friendships that have lasted to this day with many of the above, truly good people! Hey, Mike, I'm still here. I bounce between here and the MovieChat board. Lurk, mostly. Neither place has much action, not like before. Been thinking of you... We went through some rough times together, but came out of it as better people. Just to let you know, "GraceFromSoCal" resurfaced on the "Judge Judy board here" yesterday, wondering where everyone went. She was quite ill when the old boards went down, and we almost lost track of her. She says she's on the road to recovery. I try to keep in touch. By the way, nice avatar picture! Very distinguished! Your old Buddy, - Gubbs

dolfanatic314 from the General Board. Yeah I liked that guy too. Do you remember Dusty from the general board? He was very depressed before the boards closed because his mother had passed away. I kind of worried about him because he quit posting and many speculated he may have ended his own life. Sorry to be depressing.

I haven't been on the JJ board in a while, tried looking for it on this site but can't find it. I'll do a search. Glad to hear that Grace is back, I know she's been ill for some time, coming back to the boards may be good for her! Hey, thanks for the compliment! Trying a new look lol. Great to chat with you, I'll see you soon on the JJ board. See you later buddy!!

Before the old board closed down there was talk about Jimcat being sick, as he hadn't been around in quite some time. I hope he's ok. I remember when he first came on board and had multiple screen names (I think one was his wife's name) and sometimes he would get confused and post on his wife's account, and clore and I would call him out on it! He apologized soon after and showed immense growth, he was a good guy and I hope he's doing well. I miss tut, truly one of the best! Has anyone heard from him?

When it comes to trivia games I, too, miss Ram-30. There was an unspoken rivalry between him and mattgarth over who crafted the better games. They were both such masters at it. mattgarth still is. Ram-30 was the pride of Saskatchewan and loved his country so much. He would bend over backwards to include Canadian and First Nations actors and films in his quizzes. He was a gentleman but he could easily lose his temper and not hesitate to show it. For some reason I found that hilariously endearing. Here’s to Ram-30, wherever he may be.

Thanks, Jervis -- but when it came to Gamesmanship, I'm afraid I regularly took a back seat to the Canadian Crusader.

Addison was there unto the end. I always wanted to know who he was off line as he mentioned being a working actor. Was wise enuf to know not to ask him though. I once, in a PM, questioned Addison about his work. He worked as an "extra," but preferred to call it "background" work, I think. He trusted me enough to tell me what TV show and what scene he was in. And, I actually saw him. It was a very brief scene. Toward the end of the old boards, he was using a photo avatar and said it was his photo. And, that was the man I saw on TV.

Back in the "good ol' days" of the IMDb message boards, there were posters with whom I had scintillating discussions and from whom I learned quite a bit. Example: Hobnob(I forget the number after his handle). We traded posts on the old "Classic Films" board quite a bit. From him, I learned that Adolph Menjou and Eugene Palette were rabid anti-Semites, and that Walter Brennan was a virulent racist who actually rejoiced when Martin Luther King was murdered! There were other posters on other boards whom I enjoyed reading, but who are not a part of this forum. IMHO, that diminishes this forum quite a bit. Does anyone else here have fond memories of other posters? You have New friends now!!!!!'' Sadly I have heard about that rumour that Walter Brennan giggled when He heard the News that Martin Luther King was shot. Eugene Pallette thought Mussullini and Hitler was good guys. Adolphe Menjou later best role in Paths of Glory, he hated Kirk Douglas and George Macready, for their liberalsim Ward Bond was a rabid anti-semite too, bu the way I heard about Brennan but that's the first I heard about Bond;only read that he was anti-communist.

Who was the guy who kept posting about the Bob Hope movie, A Global Affair? He was fairly amusing. Though I'm not sure it was the Classic Film board he posted on.

Anyone who frequented the old "I Need To Know" board must remember JACK. He was obsessed with the THE LAND BEFORE TIME" series of animated features. For at least the last few years of those boards Jack continued to post thread after thread about his concerns for the series. He was particularly obsessed with the upcoming entry. It was something like THE LAND BEFORE TIME XIV. He was desperate to reach the filmmakers to share his ideas about the script and about whether Kiefer Sutherland would be reprising his voice role from the earlier films. We all thought he was insane. Despite all the advice we gave him he would never stop posting new threads. Everyone was sure he was quite mad. I hope he eventually found peace.
