Clash of the Wolves (1925) starring that popular canine thespian, Rin Tin Tin.
If animated films count: Lady and the Tramp (1955)

Most of these mentioned plus Babe. It's been ages since I saw it.

I've never seen that Clash of the Wolves but I have seen Lady and the Tramp. Yes. Animated or live action critters. Thanks, currently it is Shippo from the "InuYasha" TV series. However, I change my avatar every few days.

A film I really should get around to viewing some day. It's an amazing film! You really should watch it.... and soon! Most people have forgotten about it.

Some of my favourites when I was younger have already been mentioned (Benji, Homeward Bound, The Adventures of Milo and Otis, The Aristocats, Beethoven). I also remember liking Bingo and Monkey Trouble as well as the 1973 animated Robin Hood movie (the one with the characters appearing as foxes, bears, lions, snakes, etc).
My favourite animal movie would probably have to be The Lion King.

I like Benji. Oh and Milo and Otis. I watched A Dog's Purpose and it was alright. The acting by the dogs was cute. Benji The Hunted(1987) with all the cougar kittens, was great---Milo and Otis was also good
