It was so awesome! I felt like I was reading the comics, it was so accurate in tone. They even managed to fit in an issue #33 moment, and it nearly made me cry.
If there's anything I would change, I would tone down some of the uses of profanity, as a lot of families with kids will probably be seeing this movie (since Spider-Man is the superhero most little kids want to see), but other than that, it was a great movie.

I'm still undecided if it's the best or not, as I still have a lot of fond memories of the Sam Raimi films (though this does at lest beat out Spider-Man 3). I'll have to give it a few more views before I can make a definitive decision, but my first impressions were very good.

I've seen it twice and might go again. It was even better the second time, I love Vulture, I loved how he's dealing with growing up, I loved how he acts like a kid just full of excitement, and I especially love how well it integrates itself into the MCU. The fact that we got this behind the scenes look at what Damage Control was doing was fantastic.

This is also supported by the fact that the movie has no real legs, dropping quicker per week than any MCU movies before (62%, 50%). Also, rule of thumb: if at the time of hype you are not sure if it's better than/on par with the classics (SM 1 and 2), then it is not, and will later be regarded worse.

I saw it a second time and still thoroughly enjoyed it. For me, it stood up to second viewing a lot better than Wonder Woman did. On par with "the classics"? I thought so.

Speaking of the latter: I found SMH insipid, juvenile and redundant and would not watch it a second time. But then again I never liked any of the SM movies that much (not even the heralded classics), I dislike (most) teen highschool movies, and am fed up with that fattening MCU formula.
As for WW, not my favorite either, but gimme some corny old fashioned "love heals everything" storytelling anytime over these pointless, unispired character re-reboots. This one will be a classic for sure, just watch those legs fly!

To be fair, I find the Sam Raimi movies a bit boring on rewatches, despite how much I like them. Plus, this is my strategy for nearly every movie I see. And more often than not, I still like the movie on rewatches.

I'm fine with the profanity. There was probably a time when many thought Batman should remain a child- friendly entity. Then you wouldn't have The Dark Knight.

Spoken like a true DC-fantard. You guys are so bad at pretending that you are giving a true and honest account of any MCU film. Your hatred for the MCU just reeks in your posts. You and your pal DC-Fan Better stick to crappy DCEU movies.

Don't let that sand get into your vagina, and look up my Imdb profile (Tristan_Jones) including ratings, to irrefutably demonstrate how stupid your assertions are. Take it like a girl: SMH is only a movie (for children).

Oh they'll be fine. They swear worse than Joe Pesci and Samuel L. Jackson combined when their parents aren't paying attention.

It really was terrific.
I wasn't that interested in seeing it really, as I thought it was a mistake to have him in Civil War and it turned me off of the whole idea of this new reboot, but it was a really great movie.
Great superhero movie, great teen movie, and the scene in the car is one of the best moments of dramatic tension in any movie you will likely see this year.

The tone of the character was spot on. I was worried about im stealing the show but just the right amount of him to flow with the rest of the MCU.

The movie was presumably a piece of steaming fucking shit if the box office is to be believed. I didn't see it, because I'm smarter than the average bear and owed ten dollars.

Did you see the new Power Rangers? I kind of liked that aspect of the movie. That they all needed to care about each other to make being a Power Ranger work. I was like "Awww. They need to love each other so they can save the world." EDIT: I don't know how to get rid of this spoiler thing... it was an accident...

The whole "love and friendship" thing was always a part of the Power Rangers show, and the filmmakers chose to make it a literal factor into their ability to change into superheroes. I actually liked that part of an otherwise decent, but very flawed movie.
