At age five, I loved Speed Racer. Prior to that, I also remember liking Underdog, Tennessee Tuxedo, Johnny Socko and His Flying Robot, Ultraman, and Rocky and Bullwinkle. Battle of the Planets and Battlestar Galactica were both great, but they did not come out until I was eight. Surprisingly I never saw Speed Racer ( but heard of it many years later ) . However I do remember well - Underdog, Tennessee Tuxedo, and Rocky & Bullwinkle too . Those were really fun and memorable classic shows as well . Thanks so much Looking For Mr. Ackbar for these reminders also .

No doubt there are many more of these fine shows but I have forgotten a few or ones I don't even remember at all either . IMPO - It seems like the high point of awesome children's programming was definitely between the 1950's to 1980's .

For cartoons alone I'm sure we could all come up with a list of a whole bunch. I see you mentioned the new zoo revue. I used to watch that too lol. Plus we're only listing the stuff we watched at around 5. Expand that till the age of 10 and the list is endless. I can't speak for the 50's or 60's, but the 70's were just awesome

mszanadu I must admit I don't hold 1950s kids shows in the highest regard, but there are some exceptions, such as the highly entertaining "Super Circus" and the excellent "Watch Mr. Wizard". 1960s was generally excellent though with fine series like "Top Cat" and "Yogi Bear".....I remember watching a lot of 1960s stuff as a kid in the 1990s....

I was actually using the 1950's decade as a possible marker for when children's shows were introduced ( but don't really know exactly when these programs officially started up as the whole history of ? ) . The only one I know of from around that time but it first aired in 1947 was the show Howdy Doody 1947 - 1960 which I did watch from time to time but it was in reruns and in color . I also watched most of those programs that you watched from the 1960's to 1980's as well . Thanks Mr. Dacron fo ryour reply .

Pretty much all the classic cartoons from the 80s. From My Little Pony to He-Man, from The Smurfs to Jem. The Transformers, Carebears, Popples and even more obscure ones like Bionic Six and Galaxy High School.

IMPO - I always thought that " Charlie the Owl " should have been named " Ollie " instead he looked more like it to me - quite old school traditional . Charlie the Owl with pal Pic

I remember watching a lot of sesame street, the electric company, mr. rogers. Also a big Batman and Superman fan. Captain Kangaroo, I think the Magic Garden also. Also have to throw in the Saturday morning Looney tunes stuff and Scooby doo, and some other Hannah barbera stuff.
