I'd say 2010 was the weakest. Cant think of many stand out movies from that year.

2016 ; hands down!
my order of preference of the years in the current decade (from best to worst)...
1.2010 2.2011 3.2012 4.2013 5.2015 6.2014 7.2016 (in fact, this is my weakest overall year since 1998 as i would have to go back to 1998 to find a weaker overall year)
but basically... my order of preference amongst each year of the current decade is pretty clear cut when i look at the overall quality of movies in each year and compare to each other as only 2013 and 2015 are kinda debatable for me on which is higher than the other, but i think 2013 would have to take it.
my reasoning for the above conclusion... while 2015's top 2 movies beat anything from 2013, after those two, 2013 is definitely ahead overall and i think the volume of 7's helps compensate for the failure of 2013 to get any 7.5-8/10's or higher and 2013 still has two 7-7.5/10's. so i guess you could say that... looking at the Top 2 movies from 2013 vs 2015, while 2015 definitely comes out ahead, i think that being 2013 goes noticeably deeper(basically has a more stable quality of movies), and has a decent variety of movies to, that helps boost it over 2015 overall for me.

Here are the years of the decade ranked for me:
1. 2014 (Interstellar, Boyhood, Whiplash, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Snowpiercer. I know Boyhood & Snowpiercer have received some backlash, but to me al 5 of them are masterful movies.) 2. 2015 (Mad Max: Fury Road, Ex Machina, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) 3. 2016 (La La Land, Arrival, Sing Street) 4. 2013 (Gravity, Her, 12 Years a Slave) 5. 2010 (Inception) 6/7. 2011 (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, The Tree of Life) 6/7. 2012 (Django Unchained, The Dark Knight Rises)
So for me it's pretty much a tie between 2011 & 2012 for the weakest year out of the current decade.

2010 and 2011 were dire. I would add 2009 to the list, three really dry years in a row. What even won? The King's Speech? The silent film with the French guy? Yikes.

The last 6/7 years have been pretty poor imo, but 2015 was probably the strongest.

I'd say 2010 was the weakest. Cant think of many stand out movies from that year. I have a problem. I don't follow or enjoy contemporary movies that much until they have aged. It will take me a while to appreciate movies of this decade. Only then will i be able to judge. Interesting somewhat relate-able article www.theverge.com/2016/8/23/12615200/2016-worst-summer-movie-years-blockbusters

Most of this decade has been pretty bad. If someone can give me some examples of some truly great films of the decade, I'd love to revisit and maybe change my mind. I try to keep an open mind, but it seems like film in general has been slowly going downhill.

2016 was THE worst. The best IMO was 2012 -- movies such as Zero Dark Thirty, Django Unchained, Skyfall, Amour, etc...

2011. Pretty much every movie that came out that year was either an overrated Oscar bait movie or a better than average blockbuster.
