Let's suppose we are playing a game about Real Men (FF and TV) One of the choices is Louis CalhernAs you play the game, several real men come to mind (from FF), immediately: Oliver Wendell Holmes in The Magnificent YankeeJulius Caesar in Julius CaesarBuffalo Bill (aka William F. Cody) in Annie Get Your Gun Du Paty de Clam in The Life of Emile Zola
Where to start: Look at the initials at the bottom of the opening page of the game-- JC is there, but if you start searching everyone who may have played Julius Caesar on TV you may be looking all day and the clock is ticking on while other easier characters who will be "nabbed" by someone else if you spend too much time with the Julius Caesar choices. Not only that, but JC could also be Jesus Christ. Humm....what to do? Aren't these the decisions we all struggle with? Well, therein lies the fun of the game.

And don't forget Louis Calhern playing real person 'Louis Calhern' in MAIN STREET TO BROADWAY. 'Fun' you say, Kijii? It sounds more like Spanish Inquisition torture to me!

OR You might choose William F.Cody from Annie Get Your GunLet's say you choose that because WC is an initial at the bottom and you find another actor in the list who olayed Buffalo Bill on TV so you choose Dennis Weaver who played him on TV in The Lonesome DoveSo, you have a Match, right? Wrong, the QM says "That's a halfer, KP that." But, you ask yourself "which half is right and which half is wrong. KP what? Which half is right and which is wrong? Such is the life of a GG contestant...

Cruelty, thy name is Garth!
And to add to the dilemma -- there are the Garth Gaffes to make the road even bumpier.
This is the reason I keep Igor the Bodyguard in my employ.

So there could be a Joker in the game? A person playing himself in a movie could be portrayed by someone else on TV is also a possibility...

I do not think that I EVER was able to figure out which half to keep and which to throw back into the pile. Well, therein lies the fun of the game... FOR CERTAIN SURE !

That's why I always try to start with actors who have made fewer films , or fewer good films. They are less likely to have played many historical figures, than say, Charlton Heston whose entire filmography is historical figures.
I keep a paper and pencil list of actors whose character I'm pretty sure of. That helps with the halfers. But halfer Has become one of the most dreaded words in the English language
