i don't get the premise, from what i understand, there was one semi successful gate activation (her boyfriend, who was lost and then later found in the main series late on) and it wasn't activated until the original movie, so what will the show actually be about? just set on earth as they attempt to work out how the gate works? i just don't see the point or the longevity of the show

To be clear it's a web series, so I don't think it's planned to be long term thing - it'll probably be a handful of 10 minute videos showing Catherine doing some stuff.
This is an attempt to cash-in on the popularity of Stargate by creating a subscription service for the past content, then adding some lame new content to entice fans to sign up.
