screenrant.com/james-cameron-avatar-sequels-save-3d/Bit of good news at the end though Notable in Foster’s interview is his insistence that IMAX will “listen to our filmmaking partners”, before adding that directors who wish to release their films in 3D will be supported in their endeavors by IMAX. That bodes well for Cameron, not just as a director but as a producer. Coming next year, shot in 3D, is Robert Rodriguez’s adaptation of the popular anime Alita: Battle Angel, which Cameron is producing.

The opposite happened in Israel's IMAX theater in Jerusalem. They put all their IMAX movies on in 3D now. Their website said 2D for Blade Runner 2049 earlier this week but when I got there, they said that all their IMAX movies were going up in 3D. So I got to see Blade Runner 2049 in 3D, which was really wonderful!
