They could have easily gone with the Nomad storyline. I know we'll be partially getting Nomad in Infinity War, but it'll just be a small part. Wish they did a whole movie for it. And I think it would have been cool to bring back Red Skull in it as well because I don't think he's really dead. Just trapped in the cosmic cube. But it could have been a smaller and contained story just focusing on Steve trying stop Red Skull, but it could still lead up to Infinity War.

I wish we got a Captain America 3.
Don't get me wrong I really like Civil War but it was an Avengers movie with Cap as the lead. Cap's mythos sort of got thrown out the window. No Red Skull return, a phony Zemo, a shoe horned resolution to Hydrain AoU, a glorified cameo for Crossbones, no real role for Agent 13, Tony becomes the protagonist in act three...

I can all but guarantee you Cap will die in Avengers 3 or 4, Bucky will then briefly take up the mantle and also die.

I just think the "take up Cap's mantle" arc is far more compelling if it happens in the same movie as Cap's actual death. Therefore I predict that Cap will die in act two of Avengers 4 leading to Bucky to then act in his stead for the climax. The reason Bucky won't survive the movie is because his role is and always was intrinsically tied to Cap's. He's not really established as a stand alone character so it would be unnatural and unintuitive to allow him to live beyond Cap as he is merely a player in Cap's story arc.

I was thinking it would be quite compelling to dedicate a film to that arc and making it the focus with Bucky taking care of business but reluctant to take up the mantel. And I don't think they'll kill off Bucky for that reason. His arc of redemption is not done. He almost needs to earn the mantel to be complete.

But his redemption arc will be done in these two movies though. He will earn the mantel in Avengers 3 then take up the mantle in movie 4. And since he exists only to serve Cap's story he won't survive the movie that Cap dies in.

We've got to stop the MCU dead in its tracks, never make another in this current run, and reboot it immediately. Pull Thor marketing materials if any have been shipped etc., then have Bob Iger, flanked by Mickey on one side and Kathleen Kennedy on the other, make a public apology for Homecoming ruining the continuity of the old MCU.

This could all happen in 10 years if they replace the actor(s) but keep the character(s). For a long time I've been curious if they would give a character some time off if an actor was done, and then 5 years later, all of a sudden we get a new #!#$@#$ series with a new actor. I would actually be very interested in seeing what happens if they did that with an Iron Man or Black Widow.
It poses an interesting question as to what they will do if they don't go that route. I don't think they have any intention to stop making movies, and at some point you run out of viable A list characters, even though they still have plenty to go for another 10 years easily.
But what happens in that 3rd decade when Cumberbatch is getting done and Captain Marvel has run her trilogy, and Bosman is finished.
If the series is still viable after 20 years and 50 or more films (holy shit the complete MCU might end up being 50 fucking films, I just did a jig) then it is a very interesting question about what they do.

Wrong, idiot. It needs to be rebooted immediately.

giving us Nomad Cliff Notes is a big missed opportunity.
i actually said to another fan back before Civil War came out that Nomad wouldn't happen because they wouldn't have time to explore it before Thanos.
