It follows the pattern used by the likes of Hitchcock of making 'everyday-like' things scary (birds, shower curtains). In this case, it's simply someone walking towards you. Gives you the creeps long after it was over. I really loved this aspect of it. The fact that the scares were generated from something so normal, so to speak. The idea itself is pretty creepy, and it's executed perfectly. Because 'it' could be anyone simply walking, it could appear on screen at any given time. It made it very difficult to relax when watching the movie. If you're interested, I did a review of it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJf3yh9v_q0
