My parents wedding anniversary is coming soon, and I just put a card in the mailbox for them... And to do that, I had to lick the glue on the envelope to seal it... As usual, the postal glue tasted terrible... YUCK!
Holiday Cards, Business envelopes, Stamps...
Does anyone know why Postal Glue has to taste so terrible?
People have been mailing things for well over a century... I can't be the only one who hates how it tastes... WHY hasn't anyone created "cherry" flavored postal glue by now?
Seeing how the postal service keeps seeing a decline in usage... maybe part of that has to due with bad tasting postal glue... LOL!

Get envelopes you don't have to lick.

Get envelopes you don't have to lick. I guess you have never bought any birthday cards?

Might I suggest you lick something you actually like?

So I take it that I am the only one who buys Birthday Cards, Anniversary Cards, Father's Day Cards, Mother's Day Cards Christmas Cards, ETC at the store, for family and friends?
If so, SHAME ON YOU!
NONE of these that I ever find in these stores are self adhesive.

Maybe you need to go to better stores. I've bought greeting cards at places like Hallmark & Walmart & CVS, and I have never seen any greeting cards sold at those places, that come with self adhesive envelopes. They are ALL the lick kind... Now if you are lucky enough to find other store chains that that sell most of their greeting cards with self adhesive envelopes, well then lucky you... Would you care to enlighten us on what those stores are?... because I have yet to see any. I don't understand why the responses in this thread are full of so many smart ass comments... Maybe most of you don't use these items, but you should understand what I am talking about, unless you have been living under rocks your whole lives. (Perhaps you should visit a store sometime?) I know I don't live in a community found only in the Twilight Zone... because I receive greeting cards from friends & relatives who live all over the United States, and they come in envelopes you have to lick... I also know that most Hallmark & Walmart stores, which are all over the United States, have several aisles full of these greeting cards with these kinds of envelopes, so There has to be many other people in the world buying them... As for stamps, yes, I don't think the Post Office sells that kind anymore. I think they are all the adhesive kind now... But the last time they did sell them, which could not have been more that two decades ago, (I bought a ROLL of some for a office desk dispenser), and I know at that time the glue was still terrible. So for over a hundred years of mail service, no one complained about how it tasted? I find that hard to believe.

NONE of these that I ever find in these stores are self adhesive. Well, there is a remarkable natural creation called a "sponge." You wet it, wring it out, and that's what you can use on the dreaded postal glue, instead of your tongue. Problem solved, and further discussion is moot.

Purchase yourself one of these: You just put a little water in it and that's that. I do remember USPS used to sell rolls of stamps. I think if you buy them in a large enough quantity, then they're probably ones you have to lick. I know the stamps from the self-service kiosk doesn't require any moisture. Why do they taste terrible? I don't know, maybe it has something to do with the ingredients in the adhesive. I still buy cards from CVS and such, but would never consider using my tongue because you don't know who touched it last.
