The first one was OKAY. The second was awful and I quit there.

They did a really poor adaptation, they skipped over so much character development and cut so many scenes, but at the same time, they didn't adjust the story/script at all and kept lines and what were quite powerful moments in the books in, but because of the skipped scenes and skipped over character development, either made no sense or fell flat because there was no context to them
I know changes have to be made, but even if it was an original movie, it still doesn't really stand up well
Where as if you compared it to something like the Maze Runner books, which did change a lot of stuff, they did a decent job and it stands up well in it's own right, i mean i would have preferred them to stick closer to the source material, but they still made a good film(s)
Where as Divergent was just a hollow and soulless attempt at an adaptation, i think they figured after The Hunger Games did so well, they could get away with it and be lazy, but it really back fired
So for me, it's up there with the most disappointing adaptations, because i did enjoy the books and i even went to see it in the cinema, so yeah, huge disappointment

What a fall from grace for that movie series...

I was so hyped when I heard that they were making these movies as I really enjoyed the books. Not so much the romance stuff but I love the whole dystopian world genre. Man was I disappointed.

How was Shailene Woodley ever a "thing" or was she? Are dumpy looking bland actresses popular with millennials?

Never saw these movies, but I think the Young Adult genre may also be wearing out its welcome.

I liked the first one well enough, but I haven't gotten to the others yet. Guess I won't bother now. They should never have tried to make it a hit. They should have told the story proper and banked on a modest return.
