He goes as far as to assert that it will be one of the most lighthearted films yet in the DCEU to be released. So perhaps they really are serious about a tonal reset after Justice League and Flashpoint? TEXT: “The big attraction for me with that character is the fact that every kid dreams of being Superman, right? I mean I certainly did, and (Billy Batson) is a kid that gets that chance. He gets to become the superhero. So, it’ll be big with superpowers in a way. In terms of what people can expect, I think this will be one of the more fun or lighthearted movies so far in the DC universe. It certainly will be a departure.” screenrant.com/shazam-movie-dceu-tone/

well........flashpoint really doesn't have a set date, so i'd count that out, but after JL......yeah....even prior to BvS they had intended to "lighten things up" around JL.
besides, it's about a kid getting superpowers in a world filled with superheroes......how do you not try and emulate "Big" or something?

That's a good sign for Shazam at least. It seems like a lighthearted approach would work.

That’s a smart play. It’ll also be smart if they can add Superman in the film to mentor Billy Batson. This could potentially make up for Superman not getting a sequel yet and just giving the audience a chance to see a proper Superman in a lighthearted movie.

This movie having a different tone is a good thing.

That whole series of dtv short films nailed it. I'd like it if they borrowed from those.

They are just too stubborn to want to make live action versions. They all want to put their stamp on the story rather than go for the good movie.

Captain Marvel/Shazam has always been a lighthearted character, so this is no surprise.

I recall the president of New Line stating back in 2014 that the Shazam movie would have a sense of "fun" in it, and this was back when BvS was still being filmed.

Daniel Sandberg is having a great time with Shazam.
Some people just don't get jokes.
