On Independence Day, '17, several conservative radio listeners heard something being read on NPR. The called in complaining that the station was promoting Communism with the words being spoken. It took a while for them to realize that the words being spoken were from The Declaration of Independence. They were probably communists in secret and that's why they did not know the Declaration of independence. You know communists in the closet afraid to come out.

In 1945, those wacky Nazi's invented the "krummlauf" which was a rifle designed to shoot around corners. Its barrel was curved between 30 and 45 degrees and had a mounted periscope so that the troop could peer around a corner at his target.
In 1915, the Brits realized that rifle bayonets were too unwieldy for trench combat, so they invented the handgun bayonet.

Both of which are still better inventions than the Prostate Gland Warmer, a quack patent medicine device that somehow managed to receive a patent from the U.S. patent office.
