Was that a joke? I am not sure how to take it. Seems staged.

One look at Warren Beatty and you knew he'd foul it up.

Beatty said they gave him the wrong envelope. He somehow got the Emma Stone best Actress envelope. So that's why he looked at it funny. So Dunaway just read the name of the film under Emma's name on the card.

I just watched it live, saw Beatty act a little strange with the envelope, and announcing Lalaland, so I turned off the tv, and after a few minutes i went on imdb and saw moonlight as the winner, and was like WTF. So they did screw it up big time LOL.

What I want to know is who the hack (a bald/bearded guy) was that came on with an Oscar in hand and said that Moonlight was the real winner. And why did he seem so sure it was Moonlight and not the announced La La Land? His reaction seemed so staged.

And why did he seem so sure it was Moonlight and not the announced La La Land? His reaction seemed so staged. He was one of the producers of La La Land who had just given his acceptance speech when he thought it won. He was then told that Moonlight had actually won, so he went to microphone and announced that La La Land hadn't won, but Moonlight did.

This f-up wouldn't have happened if Huppert won Best Actress.

There are duplicate cards on both sides of the stage to keep the show moving no matter which side the presenter enters from. Someone needed to retire Stone's duplicate card before the final award. Stone had her card, but Beatty had her duplicate from the opposite side of the stage.

See? Sully was right. It's the human factor that matters most.
