With So Many of these films set in the recent past now, how do you plan to go about organizing your MCU dvd collection
The normal order of release or something more like and where exactly do you place them?
First Avenger (Kinda neat to imagine that this as the first time we see Nick Fury, then see the young version in Marvel, then him in Iron Man) Captain Marvel (Obviously it's the prequel) Iron Man Incredible Hulk Iron Man 2 Thor Avengers Iron Man 3 The Dark World Guardians Winter Soldier Age Of Ultron Guardians 2 (assuming the few months in between allows Winter Soldier & Ultron to happen, and mostly to give some space between 1 & 2) Ant Man Civil War Doctor Strange (I feel like this one would be moved around a bit) Homecoming Ant Man & The Wasp (assuming it's not long after Civil War) Ragnorak Black Panther Infinity War Avengers 4

I have no idea.
I have about 30+ DVDs and Blu-Rays sitting in stacks on the ground in front of my usual shelves because I've run out of room.
So I gotta get the actual shelf first.

As I don't (and probably won't) have every film, here's how I'll organize it: Superhero SectionIron Man Iron Man 2 The Avengers Iron Man Three Captain America: The Winter Soldier Avengers: Age of Ultron Sci-Fi SectionGuardians of the Galaxy Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 If I were to collect all of the films (and shows with Feige's involvement), I'd organize it this way: Iron Man Iron Man 2 (set up by Iron Man, sets up Hulk and Thor) The Incredible Hulk Thor (sets up The First Avenger) Captain America: The First Avenger (sets up Avengers) The Avengers Iron Man Three (set up by Avengers) Thor: The Dark World (sets up Guardians) Guardians of the Galaxy "Marvel's Agent Carter" (sort of connects to Winter Soldier) Captain America: The Winter Soldier (sets up Age of Ultron) Avengers: Age Of Ultron Ant-Man (sets up Civil War) Captain America: Civil War (sets up Black Panther and Spider-Man: Homecoming) Black Panther Spider-Man: Homecoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Doctor Strange (sets up Ragnarok) Thor: Ragnarok (sets up Infinity War) Avengers: Infinity War Captain Marvel Ant Man and The Wasp Avengers 4 Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 This is based on which film sets up the next (generally in the after credit sequences). I think that the prequel ones won't feel as relevant without the pre-establishment of characters for context.

I was curious at the top where you said IM2 sets up Hulk. I assume you mean the bar scene with General Ross, so are you looking at that scene as something that happens before Incredible Hulk? That's an interesting way to look at it if so.

No, actually, I was referring to the shots of destruction during the newscasts at the end of Iron Man 2, which was the scene in Hulk where they fight on the college campus. Also, at the end of IM2, it shows Stark becoming a "consultant", which sort of retroactively explains the ending scene of Hulk. Fun thread, man. Thanks

It's going to get really interesting with so many films happening before other films they came after.
It will be really interesting if they ever decide to go back and do more flashback films in phase 4 or beyond

well i don't own any mcu films, but i normally organize my blurays (not dvds......you dinosaur) by director (except for the james bond series), then chronological order, so for example Affleck: Gone Baby Gone, The Town, Argo; Alvarez: Evil Dead, Don't Breathe, etc.

I organize the MCU movies in order of release but all my other movies in order of which franchise I like more from least favorite to most, so you can imagine Star Wars being the last franchise in my shelf and Transformers being first.
MCU is in the middle with the X Men Franchise. Behind TDK trilogy, any Nolan movie, any Hitchcock movie, Back to the Future trilogy, Jurassic Park franchise, The Lord of the Rings/Hobbit Franchise, The Matrix Trilogy, The Godfather Trilogy,Indiana Jones, and Star Wars.

makes you remember the directors So like to you keep Empire apart from Jedi and both of those separate from A New Hope? well there are some exceptions, granted i don't own the star wars series, but for example with my Aliens series that is divided by directors. however when i do get the series I'll probably set under S for Star Wars, since they're very much a singular story (and almost singular vision) unlike the Aliens series which is strongly colored by the director behind it.
