I ususally host a thread giving commentary during the red carpet. For someone who wears black most of the time , I adore fashion , love fashion week, and enjoy seeing the array of designers and jewels. This year I was out singing and didn't get back in time so here, fir the shallow among us, is the New York Times slide show of some red carpet looks. By me it was a year year of epic fails with Robin Roberts the clear winner in her gold form fitting gown The best fashion trend was longer jackets for the men. The short tight jackets of recent years just seem funny to me. And your thoughts? www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2017/02/26/fashion/oscars-red-carpet-fashion/s/oscars-red-carpet-1758-emma-stone.html

Favourites - Salma Hayek (gothic allure with sensitive headband), Amy Adams (bugle-beaded Hollywood-bombshell gown with plunging neckline), Isabelle Huppert (rose pale Swarovski-Armani avec ear-cuff), Felicity Jones (vintage cream variation tulle tea-fairy), Halle Berry (Haute couture de Atelier Versace)
Best dressed man - Warren Beatty (classical tuxedo)

Agree about those gowns. Halle Berry's misstep was tge hair, but the gown was lovely.
I liked Dakota Johnson's retro cream satin gown. She needed a 30's updo to complete it, and maybe it wasn't a dress she could carry off.
Faye dunaway looked great . I could not find any red carpet views of her dress.

Jamie Dornan donned an off-white dinner jacket with a delicate golden tinge to compliment his fabuloso 'Fifty Shades' co-star. They were out promoting the blockbusting new sequel, though personally, I thought the first movie was pretty awful.
