Failed to beat GOTG 2 , DCEU beaten by marvel yet again , justice league will be a big flaming pile of poop , you lose dcfan WW failed to beat GOTG 2? If you're talking international receipts then yes but a film makes more money from domestic sales. GOTG2 also had a higher budget so in the end, WW was more successful. Yeah, but GOTG2 didn't have WW's artificial boosters.

Yeah, but GOTG2 didn't have WW's artificial boosters. You keep going on about "artificial boosters" but there's really no validity to that argument. Why just agree that WW beat expectations?

There is some validity, because we've seen it before with other films like Dark Knight. I do agree WW was enjoyable, I just don't think it was more than decent...which DOES make it far better than the DCEU's output to now.

Looking back at all the members on the old 'Wonder Woman' IMDB boards on IMDB Archive.org who said Wonder Woman was going to be a huge failure 'cause it was a movie of a female superhero that should never be made and not to mention, the so called death of the DCEU
It was more because the DCEU had failed to yield one real success at the time. People were just thinking "You've burned us too often, why should we expect anything good after all the hype?" This was why WW got such a great reception, being a mediocre film after failures made it look better. No. It was very much to do with the fact it was a female superhero movie. I watched the same Neon Nazis on the IMDB Boards chuck tantrums over the 'Captain Marvel' and 'Painkiller Jane' movies when they were announced too and a quick look at their profiles showed they whinged over every comic book or Action movie and TV show that had a female lead or an African American lead. In the case of 'Wonder Woman' it was evil feminists trying to force a female superhero movie on them and with 'Luke Cage' it was the BLM movement forcing a black superhero on them. The same members are still whinging over 'Wonder Woman' now (exact same names as checked on IMDBarchive.org) claiming feminists changed the Box Office figures for 'Wonder Woman' to make it look like it was a successful movie and they whinged on the comment sections when 'Razor' and 'Avengelyne' were announced 'cause they don't fit into their penis fest. Not surprisingly apart from being Neon Nazi/Disco Stus a lot of them can be traced back to MGTOW sites.

Looks like we got ourselves a Marveltard group therapy session here. I know it's tough to swallow that WW stomped every MCU movie this year, but you'll get over it.

No. It was very much to do with the fact it was a female superhero movie. That has less to do with her being female and more to do with the fact that prior female superhero movies just flat out sucked. So again, being a decent film against such trash gave the movie another artificial booster.

Yeah, but GOTG2 didn't have WW's artificial boosters. yes it had, e.g., the built-in kiddy-crowd, which commercially is hundreds of times more boosting than the "female protagonist" thing (yikes, a girl!). As evidenced by infamous GotG dialogue as this:
- I have sensitive nipples! Awwwwwww, my nipples!!!
- Tonight, I will put a squishy turd in your pillow! I shave you!
- You should not have killed my mom, or squished my walkman.
- Did you create a penis? Yes, and a great one at that!
- Hahahah, I have famously huge turds!
only the most lowbrow can laugh at that! WW had the horrors of war and had to create a new audience - it succeeded. This is why in the end GotG will be a forgotten lowbrow Futurama/MiB clone without any ideas of its own, while WW is already considered a historic milestone... your envy just confirms and cements the fact. Thanks samy!

So you dislike natural realistic dialog instead of overblown nonsense like "I believe in love. Only love will truly save the world"? As for "built in crowd", they earned that from the success of the first film. Not an artificial booster like "Ours is a decent movie after a bunch of garbage, so we look better than we are" like WW got.

- Showtime, assholes!
- Criminal Child abuser/abducter says to abducted child: "He may have been your father, Quill, but he wasn't your daddy. I am your daddy! I'm sorry I didn't do none of it right, but I'm damn proud you're my boy." (awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, I am melting away)
- I don't use my head to fly the killing arrow boy, I use my heart.
- [sees Rocket] uuuuuh, I love that scruffy puppy, he's so cute I'm gonna die!
- Well, get ready for a 800-foot statue of Pac-Man with Skeletor and Heather Locklear. I'm gonna make some weird shit.
- Listen to me! You are a god. If you kill me, you'll be just like everybody. - What's so wrong with that? - Nooooooooo!
- You like a professional asshole or what? Pretty much a pro.
- Now is not the time to believe in yourself! Believe in me who believes in you!
- Die, spaceship, die!!
- Screw you, spaceship!
- Maybe this man could be your David Hasselhoff. (btw i spare us the idiotic Hasselhoff funeral speech, worst, unfunny hasseling dialogue ever!)
- [to Nebula] You will always be my sister. (again: aaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!! so moving)

naturalistic does not equal stupid, at least where I come from, samy.
So yeah, no shame in admitting it: in view of this load of linguistic atrocities even you are finally ashamed of comic books. Congrats, you just made your first steps into a larger world.

Real dialog isn't always going to sound profound, real people say silly things. You just have to accept it, otherwise you can't accept life. So yeah, I'll take stuff in GOTG over anything pretentious.

No, because Captain Marvel isn't coming after a bunch of failures. What does that have to do with anything? Critics didn't like WW because they hated the previous films. They liked it more because it was a passable film coming after major failures. Their failure made WW's mediocrity look more like "good".

Has it ever cured to you that perhaps the reason critics liked was because they thought it was good, and not everyone shares the same opinion as you?

When people start taking a clearly mediocre film and start parading around like it's the end all of cinema, yes I will be willing to point out its flaws. It's almost as bad the the overhype Dark Knight got back in 2008 despite it's many flaws. Mainly because no one was willing to critique Ledger's death film.

Again, your opinion isn't representative of the majority. Critics made their reasons for liking WW clear. It was liked because it was considered a well-put together film with great chemistry between its leads, a very heartfelt sense of genuineness, and great scenes like the No Man's Land scene.
