It's now only 22 degrees Celsius (72F) in the morning, but they say it'll be 29 degrees Celsius (84F) and sunny in the afternoon. Next week will mostly have the same warm weather with temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius (86F) or maybe even a bit higher. This month has been ridiculously hot. I just looked it up and it's pretty much guaranteed that this year's May in the Netherlands will be the warmest May in history. The last record is from 1706(!) which means that it will at least be the warmest May in 312 years. Link: www.dutchnews.nl/news/2018/05/may-set-to-be-warmest-on-record-as-temperatures-pass-25c/

I also just heard on the news that the heat wave in Asia (especially Pakistan) is still showing no signs of stopping with temperatures of at least 40 degrees Celsius (104F) for another week and even temperatures of 50 degrees Celsius (122F) in some areas.

According to the news it has not been this warm in May since 1947. Also in some places its the warmest it has been in over 200 years.

32 degrees Celsius (90F) and very sunny, the hottest day of the year so far. However, they've given a weather alert for heavy thunderstorms later today and I've just heard things about extreme rainfall and hail in Southern parts of the country.

Wow, it's pouring down now like I haven't seen in a long time. Currently we're at 100 mm/hour and the forecast says it will stay like that for at least another hour. I hope water doesn't enter the house.
Edit: it's looking worse and worse as time goes by. I also just saw a video of a 'windhoos' (Dutch word for tornado) which uprooted many trees. I don't think I've seen a tornado, or whatever you want to call it, that powerful in the Netherlands in my lifetime.

Hot as hell with the humidity to add to the misery...our usual high pressure area is sitting over us and could bring record-breaking high temps over the next week, which is not easy to do down here. Pro-keeps hurricanes away. Con-keeps us hotter than fucking hades while it’s here. It’ll weaken eventually and move off paving the way for the next one, and in between if there’s enough time we might get some rain. This is our typical summer weather pattern every year! What I’ve never been sure about is why high pressures tend to settle over us like this constantly and stay for sooooo long at a time. I can only figure it has to do with mountains off to the west and the Gulf of Mexico to the right, like it locks it in and keeps it there for a while? I dunno. All I see is rain all around us with this huge oppressive dome of high heat right over us keeping the rain away lol.
