Yesterday I played Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Master System. A truly wonderful game. 8 bits of joy. This is a game I like to play when I want to relax.

I've been playing Pokémon Soulsilver which I brought years ago and never finished so I'm trying to get through it so I can finally put it away.

The last game I played, which was several days ago: Games Tape One, released 1983 by Voyager Software. It was released for the Jupiter Ace home computer (get it? Voyager, Jupiter Ace? Hmm....) It consists of three short "pick up and play" games: Asteroids has nothing in common with the arcade game of the period. It involves travelling through space, avoiding space rock. Enjoyable if simplistic. Brick Catcher consists of trying to catch bricks falling from the top of the screen. Oddly fun. Street Race is a bit of a disappointment. It's a vertically scrolling race game that's a little too hard. But I still enjoyed it. The games were played via emulation. An actual Jupiter Ace is a very rare, and a working example even rarer. Only a few thousand were sold of the system. I'd love to own one, but it's doubtful I will. Here is what the computer looks like, if anyone is interested: The computer has monochrome graphics, simple sound, uses FORTH as its main programming language, and used the ever-popular Z80A as its CPU.

Today I played Fighting Vipers on the Sega Saturn. A fun beat 'em up. I love beating up the other characters. I love the cheesy graphics and cheesy fake-rock soundtrack. My favourite character is Raxel, who's delightfully cheesy, using an electric guitar as a weapon. Mmm.....I love cheese.
I also played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch. I need to play this more often, it rocks. I played as Bowser, who very much rocks.

Today I played several video games.
I played Mario Bros (the arcade game) and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch. I found both enjoyable.
Via emulators, I played: Shadowfax, a simple game for the Commodore VIC-20 in which one guy on a horse zaps other guys on horses. The animation of the horses is quite good. The VIC-20 was a popular computer in the early 1980s but sadly seems to be forgotten.
Bubble Buster, a fun "Kaboom"-like game for the Dragon 32, a popular but short-lived Welsh computer of the early 1980s.
Bomber Baron, a cute little game in which a guy is flying over a city in his aeroplane. The goal is to drop bombs on the skyscrapers, thus destroying the city and killing everyone who lives there. Good clean fun. It's for the Acorn Electron, a reasonably popular home computer in Britain during the 1980s, yet sadly forgotten now.

I played "Mario Bros" and "Pac-Man" on the Nintendo Switch some time earlier.
Via an emulator, the last games I played were "ZX-Gobbleman" and "Nightfall", both from 1982. They are for a home computer of the early 1980s called the Sinclair ZX81, which is black-and-white only, has no sound, and came with 1 kilobyte of RAM, which most owners quickly expanded to a whopping 16 kilobytes of RAM. It was very popular in Britain despite suffering from a high rate of defective units. At one point in 1981 the computer sold for £69.95, by 1983 the price had fallen to £39.95.
When I played the games, I listened to some 1980s pop music.
Both games are enjoyable. "ZX Gobbleman" is a Pac-Man type game, while "Nightfall" is an example of the "City Bomber" type of game. "Nightfall" was not sold in stores, rather the programming code of the game was printed in a magazine, and the user was expected to type the code into the computer. This kind of software was known as a "type-in".

GTA V for the Xbox one. GTA games are great, but after you've completed the story, there's only so many time you can get arrested or killed before it becomes repetitive and boring.

I know this may seem strange, but I had the sudden urge to play a game for a bad system. A really bad system.
So, via emulator, I played "Road Race" for the Radio Shack MC-10. The computer was introduced in 1983 and was cheap, but the specification was too low even for then and it sold very poorly. In 1983, there were fine computers like the Commodore 64 to choose from, which most people went with instead.
"Road Race" is a fun game though. It's a very brief game, which is fine with me. It was actually published circa 2004, long after the computer had been discontinued.
Here's a video of the game:

been playing Star Wars KOTOR II TSL on my Steam. Achievements were added to it since i last played so i'm working on squaring those all out. though idk if i'll ever get the one for killing all Sith boarders with the Ebon Hawk's turrets.
and Destiny 2 on my roommate's PS4. he let me do the Hunter while he plays the other two. i'm nearing max Mojo. i favor the Void subclass. Cayde Six is cool.
love the former and like the latter.

Today I played the 1982 computer game Connect 4, published by CDS Micro Systems for the Sinclair ZX81 computer. Played via emulation.
I enjoyed the game. It has monochrome graphics, and no sound....but sometimes, I feel like playing really primitive computer games.

Still in process of...
Mafia III Hitman (ill get into this after i am done with Mafia III)
I finished GTA 5 a while ago and i can already tell i like Mafia III more as the Mafia series has lasting appeal for me (i.e. worth replaying) unlike the GTA series where you play once, and it's alright, but then you forget about them and move on.
p.s. all on played on PC.

mrellaguru The NES version of Tetris is very underrated! I consider it the "official" version because it's what they play in the championships. They make this incredibly, incredibly difficult game look easy. Yep! NES and original Gameboy are the only good versions as i dislike all of those crap variations of this core game. my best original Gameboy Tetris score is 362,588 (which i got on July 18th 2010 (the lowest score in my Top 15 scores is 302,328 which i got on June 22nd 2010)(i am pretty sure i have only cracked 300,000+ 15 times(most of these were in 2010 with one in 2012 and two in 2017)) , which my guess is higher than most people, but these guys blow me out of the water as i would have ZERO chance against them as they can go through the motions and get consistently high scores game-after-game where as i simply cannot do that. but one thing i do notice on Gameboy vs NES is that on Gameboy there is no point at starting on levels higher than 9 because you don't get extra points for Tetris's when you set initial level higher than 9 where as on NES you do. so basically it's beneficial to start on a level higher than 9 on NES in terms of your score. i have peaked Gameboy Tetris on Level 20 as that's the highest it goes but it's not easy as not only does your thinking have to be pretty quick your hands/fingers need to be also. like my 2nd highest score i got shows 350,317 (May 30th 2010) which ended on Level 20 with 202 lines. since i start on Level 9, you basically stay there til you hit 100 lines then it shifts to Level 10, and i think every 10 lines after that it shifts up one level (i.e. 110 lines = Level 11, 120 lines = Level 12 and so on) but once the game itself goes from Level 9 to Level 10 you do get extra points for Tetris's but if you manually start off on level 10 on gameboy it does not give you extra points (unlike NES version which does). so there is no point in starting at anything higher than Level 9, like score wise, unless of course you want to attempt to train yourself to play at higher speeds. but i noticed the block falling speed don't seem to mess with me too much until i hit a certain speed/level on gameboy as when i start on Level 9 that does not bother me at all and i can go some beyond that before i start to feel the pressure from the block falling speed. so i think, at least for the most part, i have to load up on Tetris's prior to the level increasing too much which basically means i need to go off with Tetris's in those first 100 lines or so to get my score as high as i can and it's tricky because the game can sometimes really shaft you where you need a line and it does not give it to you for a long time. so it's like if i could find a way to work around those delays etc i might be noticeably better. but who knows. one thing i noticed about Tetris online... "Brain imaging shows playing Tetris leads to a thicker cortex and may also increase brain efficiency, according to a new study. A research team based in New Mexico is one of the first to investigate the effects of practice in the brain using two image techniques." ; makes me wonder how long that lasts though? ; like say you play it day-after-day for a while and your brain increases a bit like it says... i wonder how long before it loses that increased efficiency once you stop playing it?. because usually ill go in bursts where ill play it for a while, as it takes me a while to get more up to speed, and then stop for months etc. also, i have seen those two guys play a while ago and, your right, they do make this look easy especially considering the level they start on which makes it all that more impressive as at Level 18 things are falling pretty damn fast as that speed alone would be a big issue for me as my brain/hand speed cannot work that fast, at least not comfortably like it does when i am at level 9 or maybe say level 12 or so. also, i do have NES Tetris on a emulator (even though i did play it on Nintendo back in the day at some point) but i can tell it handicaps me because using a XBox360 controller for Tetris sucks because of it's D-Pad simply sucks for Tetris vs the actual Gameboy or NES controller which is much quicker to respond as it's easier to press quickly. so i don't usually try playing the NES Tetris on a emulator because of that and stick to the Gameboy Advance SP with original Gameboy Tetris when i do play as that does not handicap me. p.s. whatever it was i must have gotten better at Tetris with as i got older because i used to have original Tetris on gameboy back in the early-to-mid 1990's when i was in my teens (i was a teenager til late 1999) and sold my gameboy at some point back in the mid-1990's and then got a hold of a Gameboy Advance SP in 2010 and then went on Ebay and bought a original Gameboy Tetris cartridge and that's when i noticed i must have gotten overall better at the game once i put decent time into it because back in those days the vast majority of my Top 10 score area where in the 1xx,xxx ranges as my highest score from the old days was 328,296 which i consider somewhat of a fluke at that time because it was my only 3xx,xxx+ range score as even getting into the 2xx,xxx range back in those days was difficult for me. so basically comparing my 15 year old self to 30 year old self there was definitely a difference. but with that mentioned... it's hard for me to say where the point is, with my age, when i got noticeably better vs when i was 15 years old as it could have been 20 or 25 years old but ill never know.

Injustice 2 -- a "loot box" anal rape machine. I should have knows better, given it's a Warn-a-brother licensed game. I really hope they ban this poorly veiled gambling mechanic in games... it's utterly disgusting.
At least Geese has been released for Tekken 7, so that I can abandon IJ2 until it gets cracked and its content hacked open...
