They're the ones that don't make any effort to tie in their TV shows or have tie in comics. What about the DCEU is extended? It's pretty isolated isn't it? The DCIU?
It's the MCU that has numerous TV shows and comics that all tie in, although I wouldn't want that to be called the "extended universe".

you have an uncanny ability to shoot in your own leg while in one of your fanboy jealousy fits. Talking about "misleading names": So, MCU stands for Marvel Cinematic Universe, right? And the TV shows and comics are part of that you say? Does Marvel really not know what "Cinematic" means...? Thus, again the MCU is flawed from the primal roots already. It must be rebooted quickly, someone just give it the coup de grace…

Actually it has been confirmed by DC 'Krypton' will be set in the DCEU and will be somewhat of a prequel to 'Man of Steel' with a number of major Superman characters set to appear in the TV show. With Geoff Johns confirming there are plans to have more Bat Family characters in the DCEU movies and FINALLY reflect the comic books the definition of 'Extended' is going to fit the DCEU perfectly. For one the Bat Universe is WAY bigger than the MCU and with the Batman, Batgirl, Nightwing, Gotham City Sirens and Suicide Squad confirmed add the rest of the Universe to it in the New 52 and Rebirth and we get Birds of Prey, Titans, Batwoman, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Catwoman, Gotham Academy, Batman Beyond etc along with the Spoiler, Red Robin, Orphan and Bluebird for the first time in Batman solo movies. Birds of Prey and Titans can also set up Black Canary, Green Arrow, the Huntress, Raven and Starfire movies. The Bat Family is the biggest selling entity in the history of comic books with over $1.5 billion (more than Spider-Man, X Men, Captain America and the Fantastic Four combined) in sales combined and we have yet to even see a quarter of them in movies but that is set to change big time in upcoming movies.

So what about all the other shows they made no effort to tie in? How much comics sell has nothing to do with what I'm saying so I don't know why you brought it up.

To answer your question, the MCU began as a Cinematic universe and has extended beyond that. The dcEu didn't start out as an extension of anything so I'm curious why that was ever a part of the title.

Talking about the word "extended". What about the DCEU is extended? so you just dodge the bullet into the dark misleading heart of the MCU? But ok. "Extended" can be construed widely. In this context it can mean that the Solo movies have overlapping characters and events, such as Flashpoint has WW, or Suicide Squad had Bats, or WW has a whiff of BvS with the WW-photo etc.
Also the DCEU with only 4 movies is a young, developing work in progress, it will have other media tie-ins with time . deblovesbec above told you about the plans already.
So, the DCEU fulfills a lot of the definitions and interpretations of "extended" - in the long run I cannot think of one it doesn't.

By "extended" I'd assume they mean that the franchise goes beyond being about a single character. It extends to adapting more or less the entire DC universe, hence the title.

He knew that, he just has to come here to nitpick every now and then. When this post dies down, he will not think hard at something else in the DCEU to nitpick lol

Exactly. He basically wants CW to tie in with the DCEU and since that isn’t happening, it’s a big issue for him.

I think extended here simply means anything encompassing DC live action media. However that doesn't mean they're all interconnected, for example numerous producers have called their new (2013 +) films as part of the JLU, the CW shows are called the CW-verse, Krypton....idk where that falls, but all still are under the DCEU. I mean things like 100 Bullets, Fables, Sandman will all still fall under the DCEU.

What I don't understand is why would ANYONE want shows like Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and Legends of tomorrow to be Canon to the DCEU, especially since Arrow gang raped Ra's Al Ghul.

So how does this address the fact that they were lazy and didn't attempt to connect their shows?

I wouldn't want those shows specifically to tie in, but they fact that they made those shows and not different shows that do tie in, is the choice I'm referring to.

I've always thought the same. They can't even name their franchise correctly.

I don't care what it means, as long as those awful CW shows stay far, far away from this new franchise.

That is the problem. You're phrasing it as though that's a good thing, but in the end it's an excuse to be lazy, not even try to relate them, and it's just a blown opportunity.
