My employer pushed out the August Roll-up to my Windows 7 work machine yesterday. I installed it late in the day, and haven't had a chance to really test it yet. For the record, Woody Leonhard is still at MS DEFCON 2: Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. Furthermore, Woody states:

Although Woody is still officially at MS-DEFCON 2, I installed the August 2017 Rollup (KB4034664) on my home Windows 7 machine today. As I noted earlier, my employer pushed the same update out to my work computer weeks ago, and I didn't see any reason to wait for Woody any longer. Everything went smoothly.

Here's the latest report from Woody Leonhard at Computerworld, which covers multiple Windows and Office versions. Microsoft patch alert: Outstanding problems with recent updateswww.computerworld.com/article/3221286/microsoft-windows/microsoft-patch-alert-outstanding-problems-with-recent-updates.htmlAs I wrote earlier, the problems with the Windows 7 patches are relatively minor. Since I have a single monitor, and don't use WordPad, I have experienced no problems. However, Microsoft is now offering .NET Framework 4.7 via Windows Update as a recommended update. I have read on Woody's site, without any details, that .NET 4.7 doesn't work well on Windows 7. I hid .NET 4.7 on both my work and home machines. A key application at my work can't handle any .NET version higher than 4.5.2, and my Paint.NET program at home depends on .NET 4.6. If you're running Windows 7, you will probably want to hide this - unless you have a program that requires .NET 4.7.
