My favourite would probably be The Jezabels. One day when I was flicking between stations in the car, trying to find something actually worth listening to on the radio, I happened upon this song only by chance and was instantly hooked. I have loved the band ever since.
I’m not sure if all of these count as 'bands' (some are more just 'duos'), and I’m probably forgetting a bunch, but I also like/have liked at one time or another:
ABBA
The Bangles
Best Coast
Blondie
Chairlift
Chvrches
The Corrs
Divinyls
Eurythmics
Evanescence
First Aid Kit
Fleetwood Mac
Florence + The Machine
Haim
Metric
MS MR
Paramore
The Preatures
The Pretenders
Roxette
Seeker Lover Keeper
Sleigh Bells
Stonefield
The Wreckers

I've always liked bands with female singers. You seem to be familiar with a lot more than I am.
Heart Veruca Salt Letters To Cleo Joan Jett and The Blackhearts Big Brother and The Holding Company (w/ Janis Joplin) Pat Benatar The Bangles 'Til Tuesday Missing Persons The Breeders Juliana Hatfield No Doubt Elastica Poe Flyleaf Luella and The Sun Gin Wigmore Zepparella The Warning (3 young Mexican sisters who do impressive covers of Rock songs) Thanks for taking the time to reply everybody. I love music and writing lists of my favourite artists and bands. I like your list Sulla and I would have mentioned Juliana Hatfield and Pat Benatar too but was thinking about them as solo artists so I didn't include them. Since we are talking about solo artists I was curious if you have heard any of Kay Hanley, Nina Gordon and Tanya Donnely's solo albums? There are a lot of singers in these bands who have released solo albums too and some of them have sang in other bands too like Juliana Hatfield in Some Girls and Kay Hanley in the short lived but awesome Palmdale which you will probably love. ![](https://s10.postimg.org/6q2a99zhl/sprite_emonga_shiny_by_loko1988-d37oy15.gif)

The Mother Station:
Also Headpins, The Motels, 4 Non Blondes, Lake Street Dive, Missing Persons, The Pretenders, and of course Heart. Plus a bunch of others that have already been mentioned here.

I'm a fan of a ton of female solo artists, not so many bands. But some female-fronted bands that I'm a big fan of are (excluding "solo artist & so and so" artists a la "Alison Krauss & Union Station" or "kd lang & the Reclines"):
A Camp ABBA All Saints Animal Logic Art Bears Brides of Funkenstein Destiny's Child The Eurythmics Fleetwood Mac Front Porch String Band Heart Hugo Largo Jefferson Airplane/Starship Labelle The Pointer Sisters Renaissance The Supremes Swing Out Sister U Totem

Stewart Copeland's worst project. Couldn't be further from my opinion. Some of the best music ever in my opinion. I wound up following Deborah Holland on her own, too, because of Animal Logic, but unforunately she hasn't been very prolific. And you were rah-rahing Lady Gaga! Bah!!

Well, part of the trick is to not expect stuff that sounds like Copeland's soundtrack work or Clarke's fusion stuff. It's just a matter of whether you like sophisticated, slick, (kinda smooth-)jazz-influenced pop-rock. Which means that musically, it's more in the vein of, say, Sting's solo material (a la Soul Cages, Nothing Like the Sun, etc.)

I admit to going into it with a certain expectation. But it's been a while, so maybe I do indeed to give them another shot without said expectation. I'll dust off my Animal Logic CD's soon and give them another go. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I'll dust off my Animal Logic CD's soon and give them another go. They seemed to legitimately approach the project like a band, with the potential to be a long-term band, geared towards commercial success, etc., but it turned out to be bad timing for the sort of music they were doing, they just didn't catch on--I don't know what sort of promotion they might have had--and so it fizzled after the second album. But that's why it wasn't anything like Copeland's soundtrack work or Clarke's fusion stuff. It's more difficult to get and keep a band like that going, where members were previously famous, because people have expectations that aren't met based on their earlier work. It was similar to, say, Asia, although Asia of course managed to be huge for two albums at least, but they still alienated a lot of people who were initially excited about them, because those folks were expecting something like Yes meets ELP meets King Crimson. But Asia was crafted with an aim set on singles charts, not to capitalize on the older prog diehard fanbase.

Ok, I broke out my Rose Colored Glasses CD single for the live track ( Someone to Come Home To), and I have to admit that I may have just been stubborn all these years. Incredible musicianship, and I should have known better. Thanks for the bump, TP. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

A few years ago I listened to some of Nina Gordon's solo songs. They were okay, but I think I was really just looking for more Veruca Salt. When I have time I'll look into Palmdale and a few others I haven't heard of from your list. Thanks for the info, Deb.

NxNWRocks mentioned Kittie. Sweet! [/quote][/p]
Sweet! Thank you for posting that. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
Meanwhile, an amusing story about Kittie.
They had a VHS tape that showed highlights of their first tour.
When I went to buy it, I asked the clerk, "You DO know these guys are from London, right?"
She replied, "Yep. I went to school with them."
As well, a little known fact:
There was a re-incarnation of the game show Match Game that was recorded in Montreal. It featured Debra DiGiovanni and Sean Cullen as regular panelists.
Fallon Bowman appeared as a contestant on the show! I was thinking....she looks AWFULLY familiar! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I loved Kay Hanley's ' Cherry Marmalade' and 'Weaponize' and I am not sure if you are a fan of Blue Oyster Cult or the Cars but if you are you should really check out Buck Dharma's album, 'Flat Out' and Benjamin Orr's 'The Lace.' I wish Benjamin Orr had released more solo albums before he passed away 'cause 'The Lace' was really good and I have heard some of his unreleased songs like 'Do You Know What It Feels Like', 'River of Fire' and 'I'm Comin' Home Tonight.' ![](https://s21.postimg.org/6bcvtqeo7/Ninetales.gif)

Stay far away from Dale Bozzio's solo stuff. Just take my word for it. That bad huh?Maybe not if you like this kind of stuff: youtu.be/N-PSjhSq4_EI don't. And while Missing Persons had some really good material, it was Terry Bozzio who made them more than just another new wave 80's band. That said, Dale should probably stop milking it: youtu.be/CXFv3YGf9ak![](https://s26.postimg.org/gf93ycxax/giveup.gif)
