I'm not going to accept anything because I remember what happened crystal-clear.
However, I will end this.

I'm not going to accept anything because I remember what happened crystal-clear. However, I will end this. I don't doubt that that's how you feel it went down. But I saw something very different. I'm not saying you're wrong and I'm right. I'm saying that all of us saw what happened differently. You'll have people that agree with you, and I'll have people that agree with me. What I'm saying is that insisting that you're "right" on this isn't going to make any progress in ending any dumb flame wars. The way to end it is to agree that both sides are loaded with trolls and to agree to rise above that. But trying to continuously paint one specific side as "the bad guys" isn't going to help anything. That's just how it is.

I will always think of the DC fans as the overall aggressor, but I am willing to let the matter be.

Oh, thank goodness! I was worried I'd be the only Marvel fan here. Hey,i actually love Cap America Trilogy,GOTG,Avengers and i like most of the MCU. I just don't care for Ant-man and Incredible Hulk. I'm looking forward for all MCU releases

Awesome.
I've seen The Incredible Hulk get its fair share of criticism, being the odd duck within the series.

I will always think of the DC fans as the overall aggressor, but I am willing to let the matter be. And I will always think of (some of) the Marvel fans as self-righteous douches who get upset when people actually prefer the DC movies (as if it's some sort of crime).

I will always think of the DC fans as the overall aggressor, but I am willing to let the matter be. I don't think it's that simple. You have factions within the sides. It isn't as simple as Marvel fans vs DC fans. -There are Tim Burton fans only. The nostalgia 30+ year olds who think Keaton is the only Batman. -Then there are the self righteous Donner Fans who think the only Superhero films are Superman I and II. -Then there are the DC animated fans who love Batman TAS and Justice League animated series, as well as the other various one off animated films. -Then there are the Nolan fans. They believe Batman begins and ends with "The Dark Knight" trilogy. -Then there are the Man of Steel fans who don't like the DCEU and wish it had it's own separate trilogy. -Then there are the Man of Steel fans who do love the DCEU. -Then there are the DC fanboys who love ANYTHING DC creates -Oh, and I almost forgot the TEEN TITAN fans. With Marvel its a little simpler. -Spider-Man Raimi fans who hate the new Spider-Mans and Shared Universe -Spider-Man Raimi fans who accept all types of Spider-Man films. -MCU fans who hate the X-Men at Fox. -X-Men Fox fans who love both the shared universe of the MCU and FOX's Marvel -X-Men Fox fans who hate the MCU. -MCU fans who love the X-Men at Fox.

That does make sense. DC films just have a longer history and therefore more generations/factions of fans. Marvel didn't try much on the film scene for many years. I know there were Marvel TV movies in the Mid-Late 1970s and 80s, most of which are hilariously bad, except for "The Incredible Hulk" which went on to become a popular series. Then there was the DtV Punisher film and the Captain America TV movie in 1990. Then Roger Corman's Fantast Four film in '94. None of those amounted to much, except for (again), "The Incredible Hulk". If memory serves, "Blade" was the first real success Marvel had at the box office and that was in 1998.

I think you should have a 5'7'' skinny nerd playing Banner and I think you should get a guy about The Rock or Brock Lesner's size and he should be The Hulk. That's more realistic of a man having a gamma radiation adrenaline rush. Or even what Snyder did with Xerxes in "300"... I just don't like the 100% CGi mo-cap thing.

Fair enough. I'm fine with the CGI approach the modern Marvel films have taken, and I'm fine with the Lou-approach, too, as long as the makeup is good enough and the guy is big enough.

Bump. Just to serve as a reminder of how this place could have been so much more peaceful if not for DennisReynolds being a total asshat.

As you can see, Nalkarj, my plea didn't work because Dennis just HAD to have his way.

And that's too bad, @weirdraptor, because I would have liked a board premised on what you wrote in your OP. I hope you understand that (1) I have no DC/Marvel bias either way and (2) that I'm not criticizing you for liking these films, as you alleged. I'm just trying to note what I see as flaws (with all superhero movies, not just Marvel's) and to see if anyone else agrees; if you disagree, that's just fine, and I'm really not looking down my nose at you or any fan of anything. My apologies, as it seems what I wrote came off that way to you.

A decade of being told I'm an idiot for liking the things I like has left its mark, and I just assume the worst many times. God, why did comic book movies have to become such a dick measuring contest? As I'm sure you read on this topic, things didn't take a turn for the worse until after Dennis pitched a fit when I asked him not to insult fans. I didn't say anything about him criticizing Ant-Man, and then he refused to acknowledge that the DC fandom carries any fault with the flame wars. No one was even gunning for him at the time, and he still just couldn't help himself.

@weirdraptor
It is annoying, and on my part I apologize too because my "posts in Latin" cracks et al. were stupid. I just felt like making a joke to lighten the mood.
Please do not think I am calling you an idiot for noting what I see are some flaws in comic-book movies. (Hey, I like 'em too!) I am probably going to criticize both Marvel and DC sometime in the future, if it's something about which I feel strongly, and I don't want you to think again I'm launching some personal attack.
All the best.

I've enjoyed work from both companies, but Marvel holds a place in my heart because Spider-Man 2002 was the first superhero movie I saw in the theaters when I was 5 years old, and it got me hooked on comic books. The following year, I saw X2 and Hulk in theaters. I never saw a DC movie in theaters until Batman Begins in 2005 and Superman Returns in 2006. The MCU is currently my favorite movie franchise at the moment and has been since 2008. I love that the people at Marvel Studios love and respect their characters. Something that WB and Fox just doesn't do, and that leads to more quality CBMs. Some could make an argument that The Dark Knight has a better story than all the MCU movies, but The Avengers is my favorite superhero movie of all time because it was the first time I felt like watching a comic book come to life.

In the last several years there has been an ongoing flame war between Marvel and DC fan users on IMDb, and I don't think it's any secret that it was one of many, many contributing factors to the decision to shut down the forums on that site. So let's all just start new and get along despite our vast difference of opinions about which company is better in terms of comics and/or films. Let's not flood these discussions with "MARVEL IS KIDDIE" or "THE DCEU IS A MONSTROSITY" and just get along. Or else the mods on this site just might have to shut this one down, too. Moving on, perhaps this very topic can be a place to discuss general "Marvel vs. DC" opinions, but let's keep it civil. Please please please please please. I'll start. I'm a fan of both companies without much preference to one or the other. As for current films adaptations, for me, it's the Marvel Cinematic Universe, hands down that wins for me. I feel the DC Extended Universe just misses the point of the characters it adapting and is just making them too dark and dreary for my tastes. I haven't liked them much. How about you? And remember: please be nice. PLEASE. bump
